If your computer has a card reader, then the best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into the card reader. This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as the free Picasa (http://picasa.google.com ).

Have a nikon coolpix S8100 with a 4gb card. My hp photosmart 7960 reads "error reading card" when trying to upload pictures. I have no problems uploading my old memory card from my cannon A95.

The 7960 works with SD cards. It does not work with SDHC cards such as your 4GB card.

SD cards max out at 2GB. While SDHC cards are physically identical, they are electronically incompatible and will not work in devices not designed for them.

If you can see pictures that you have taken earlier (stored on your memory card), you may have a CCD problem. See this link for information on the problem and contact Canon if you think this is it.

A95 LCD screen black and unable to take photos

There are quite a few of us with symilar problem, but the screen is not completely black: it has some purple or pinkish color when facing light. Old pics and menu can still be viewed. I noticed 4 symilar threads on Canon A95 within the last 5 mins without any search, just looking at the top questions.

Sdram capacity

its that 512 mb total capacity for your computer memory?? if so read this:
To find the total amount of RAM that can be added , subtract the amount of RAM currently in the computer from the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold. For example, a computer has 256 MB of RAM. If the maximum amount of memory the computer can hold is 512 MB, then 256 MB is the amount of RAM that can be added. this info from the HP website , to find out more , go to http://www.hp.com/support , enter the model number , and look for more information about your computer specs, hope this helps , please rate & thanks AJ

Installing RAM

I was not able to find specific information for that computer but replacing memory on any desktop computer is usually pretty straight forward. You would unplug from power, remove the screws for the cover, and locate the slots that hold the memory chips and add the memory. It might be a case that all of your memory slots are full and you'll need to remove some of the memory first. You could replace them with larger capacity chips. HP lists generic memory information at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph03886&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=426931&lang=en Good luck
