This could be from a bad fuel filter (has a dark appearance when dry), from the spark arrestor screen in the muffler being plugged up with carbon deposits (take out the spark arrestor screen and clean it by burning off the carbon deposits), or the carburetor needs to be adjusted. If the carburetor needs to be adjusted I would take it to the nearest Stihl dealer that has a Gold Certified Technician. That way the unit is adjusted properly and is in good running condition. You can find a local dealer with the dealer locator. The link is HERE.

Stihl TS400 stone cutter not working (no compression) so replaced piston rings, new gasket kit and clean for carb new spark plug (good spark when engin turned over) cleaned all air filters, replaced all...

You did not indicate whether or not you have compression now that you have changed out the gaskets and piston rings. If not, it seems to me that the problem could be a) cracked head or block, b) bad valve(s) or even c) a warped head.

Sorry for the bad news (if I am right).

Stihl FS85 starts fine, But not take full throttle

Pumping the primer bubble while the engine is running should cause the engine to over fuel and stall (if the tuning is correct). Sounds like its not fueling enough, pumping the primer is forcing fuel through the carb causing the engine to pick up rev's, but this is soon exhausted which is why it wont rev on the throttle.
* Check that the fuel line is not damaged and drawing in air. (if this is intact try the next step)
* Strip and clean the carb. Replace any diaphrams if needed.
* Check gaskets seal between carb, air filter and cylinder.

Just out of curiosity what standard carb settings did you use.?

THE FS 46C WEEDEATER WILL IDLE JUST FINE, BUT WILL NOT REV UP WHEN PULLING ON THE TRIGGER. THE THROTTLE CABLE IS NOT DISCONNECTED AND THE CARB IS CLEAN. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

easy... if the carb adjustments are still factory set the you just need to replace the muffler screen or also called a spark arrester.it covers the muffler exit....

Can not start my stihl Fs66 weedeater

Turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-3/4 turns each. This a basic setting and both will need to be set leaner (CW) after the engine warms up. Remove the spark plug and check for blue sparks when the engine is pulled through. If nothing, try a new spark plug. If still nothing, try removing the stop switch connection at the ignition module and retry for sparks. If nothing again, replace the ignition module. Use a thin business card to set the pole gap (the magnets should be under the poles of the ignition module) when installing the replacement. If you get sparks in the first test, try spraying some carburetor cleaner in the plug hole, replace the plug, and attempt to start. If you get a pop or two, then you have fuel problems. Check the fuel lines for condition, check the filter inside the fuel tank for plugging, and tightness of the carburetor screws and nuts. Remove the muffler and check for plugging. Check the air cleaner for plugging. If it still won't run, then the carburetor should be removed, disassembled, cleaned, and fresh gaskets and diaphragms installed. Keep track of what went where as you remove parts. If the machine appears to have good compression, it should start. When the engine is warmed up, adjust the H needle to 4-stroke at high speed, but smooth out when cutting. The L needle should be adjusted to allow the engine to run fairly smoothly, but allow the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Idle speed should be set so that the string head does not turn, but keeps the engine running. Hope some of this will get you trimming again!

Stihl FS81(older style) brushcutter.New Carby dies under throttle

The problems you are having sounds very much like a blocked exhaust port/silencer. On these small two stroke machines it is normally the cause of lack of power or not revving. Happy gardening !!

How do i set the carburetor on a Stihl FS-55 weedeater.

Over the past 8 years, the FS55 has had at least 5 different carburetors, and they have at least 3 different systems with different adjustments. Many of them do not have much of an adjustment and will not cure running problems. If you are experiencing poor running conditions, I would suggest some basic checks first. The spark arrestor screen is a big culprit on this model.

Basics to check:
1) Spark plug - brown or dark brown - OK
a) is it carbon or fuel fouled
b) is there spark

2) Muffler remove for inspection
a) exhaust screen clean or plugged
b) inspect cylinder wall/piston as the flywheel is slowly rotated
3) Check cylinder compression

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside

My stihl weedeater starts and idles fine but does not get power.

I have a Stihl FS 45 and have had problems with it running for a short time then cutting out. The problem is like to be either- the filter attached to end end of the fuel pick hose that goes down into the fuel tank is blocked or- there is a crack or split in the corrugated section of the fuel pick up hose between the fuel tank and the carburettor. If such a crack or split exists it will cause air to be sucked in with the fuel upsetting the fuel/air ratio. A new hose not adjustment is the only cure

Stihl weed eater runs 2min. then stop

Stihl weedeater was running and stopped suddenly. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaner air filter with soap and water. Checked spark plug and it appeared fine. Started the weedeater, ran for a second or so and stopped. Spark plug wasn't gas fouled. Could it be the carburetor needing new diaphram gasket and spring.
