Question about Camelbak BPA Free Better Water Bottle .5L

Open Question

I just got a brand new camelbak water bottle, this is my 4th one. All the others I brought home, filled up and drank from them. my new one seems as if its getting too much air and water is coming out in very tiny tiny (thing two millileters) increments. if i rotate the mouthpiece to being slightly more towards the closed position it gets more water, *but* then the mouthpiece collapses a bit. anything i can do besides take it back...?

Can you get a water bottle with a filter in it?

Camelbak Groove
The Groove holds 600ml of water and has a carbon filter that is partly made of coconut (really) built into the straw, so it instantly turns the stuff from the tap into fresh water, whenever and wherever you are.

When I bit and sip nothing comes out

Update: 1 minute later and the other one is fixed! I just moved the ball joint back and fourth several times, and it works fine. I think there is a soft valve inside that stuck closed after being stored for so long in the closed position. Moving it around fixed the one. I did this with the other one, too, though, and it did not fix it. So, keep moving it back and fourth and blowing and sucking. I want a refund/replacement for the one I broke trying to fix it, though.

During a 6 week trek in limestone country, we both noticed extensive white deposits in the tubes which impeded the flow of water. Assuming it was calcium carbonate, I have tried vinegar to dissolve it but...

The deposits may be a fungus that grows in camelbak, and other brands of, hydration systems due to sunlight shining on the wet plastic. It's possible that if you were using water containing lime that the lime has mixed with the fungus. To reduce the growth some systems have a black insulation which covers the drinking tube. There's a cleaning kit you can get which consists of 2 brushes, a narrow one for the tube and a larger one for the main water reservoir, and tablets which disolve or break up the fungus. You can get them at
or if you look on google for "Camelbak cleaning kit" you might find somewhere near you that sells them.

The fungus is not harmful but it does put a taste on the water and doesn't look very nice.

Just figured it out while messing around with it a bit! Remove the mouthpiece and you will see a grey rubbery valve underneath. Gently pull the valve upward to open it back up. Replace the mouthpiece and voila!
