Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have an affinity front loading easing machine. It's about a year and half old. I was washing sheets and thought the cycle was finished. While moving sheets to the dryer they seemed really wet. I tried to run just the spin cycle. I could program what I wanted it to do and hit start a few seconds and the display goes black and shuts off. I also noticed the fabric softener was still in the dispenser so I'm not even sure exactly when it stopped.

Thank you. Actually the machine has been sitting for a couple of hours. I tried unplugging already. From what I can tell, the door closes all the way. I checked the drain hose as best as I could, but seem to be somewhat limited on how far in to the washer I can go without basically taking it apart. I called a Frigidaire authorized service provider and based on what I described he thinks it may be the front boards (or something like that...I'm not too technical) . He suggested for me to call Frigidaire to see if they would cover the cost of the parts since it was just a bit past the warranty. Fortunately they said they would. So all I am responsible for is the labor. I think I'll just go with a pro....I'm afraid if I start messing with I could make it worse! Thanks again!

Hello,

First, I would suggest you leave the machine for about an hour or two and try again. Turn the machine of and remove it's plug from the wall. I think is malfunction because you removed the sheet when the cycle has not finished. Leaving the machine off for a while might put it back in order.

If leaving it for a while does not solve the problem, follow the troubleshooting tips below;

1. Remove any kinks in the drain hose. Ensure that the washer is not sitting on the hose.
2. Inspect the household drain. Remove clogs, if possible. Call a plumber if you cannot remove the clogs.
3. Check the drain and make sure there is an air gap between the hose and drain. An air gap is necessary to prevent the drain hose from siphoning water.
4. Clean the pump filter. Open the pump access door. Turn the pump filter counter-clockwise and remove it. Remove dirt and debris. Replace the filter and close the pump access door.
5. Rearrange the clothing in the load. An unbalanced load can prevent the washer from spinning or draining.
6. Allow the washer to cool down for two hours. If the washer overheats, it will stop the motor and cool down before restarting.
7. Close the door completely. The washer will not operate if the door is not securely closed.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck.

My frigidare affinity shuts down mid cycle , and has to be restarted many times in order to finish a load of clothes

Remove top of washer by removing screws in back of top. You should see the tech sheet. Use this to retrieve any error codes.
A common problem with these is a bad door switch. (The part the strike goes into. If this is the case you should come up with error code for it.

Affinity Washing Machine, 3 months old, pauses during cycle. Does not give any error code. Have tried different cycles, eventually it will run the cycle. Doesn't happen with every cycle, yet. Switches...

Did you figure out this problem? I think these machines are JUNK! We purchased our first Frigidaire Affinity in April 2010 & by September it started ripping our clothes apart. Not every cycle. At first we thought it was the dryer but nope - it was the washer. Something to do with the drum. We had it replaced in October 2010. Then after the truck dropped off the replacement, I tried doing my first load of laundry. It lite up & did nothing. Something to do with the motor. Again, we had a 3rd machine replacement. I wanted to give up, get my money back & go buy something else but I wanted it to match my dryer so I was kinda stuck. Our 3rd machine is now going to pause constantly during a cycle. I've read up on it & tried various things such as less soap, checking the drain etc. & nothing has changed this problem. I'm calling the store on Monday & demanding my money back & they can take back the dryer too. I have a feeling this might be a bit of a fight but I am disappointed with the results of this machine. We've lost about $100+ in clothing from the first machine, plus all the down time in all 3 of these machines not working & having to worry about going to do laundry elsewhere.

My washer stops half way through the cycle and blinks????Frigidaire affinity front load washer for some reason just stop halfway through the cycle sometimes.

Take note if the drain pump is operating. If it stops halfway, it must be stopping for a problem that has arisn, Normally, the water is not being pumped out.

IF there is an E attached to the 45, it is your control board and the control board would need to be replaced. This is per the "Washer Tech Data Sheet"Hope that helps...
