Question about Linksys WRT160N Wireless Router

1 Answer

My Linksys WRT160N router is only partially functional. After working fine for several months, it now connects only maybe 1 time in 10 - and most of those connects are very slow and unstable. Occasionally, it connects fine, but that is rare. I have tried changing channels, resetting, cold reboots, etc., with no success. I have concluded that it is time for a new router - this one is about 15 months old. Any other suggestions?

Hello,
Please be sure your router is not too close to your cordless phone.
They both works on similar frequencies and the router can become unstable.

Check the IP address on the Vista wireless network connection. Make sure that there is not static IP address on the wireless connection. That could be one of the reason.

Cannot access remote management of WRT160N Router at all.

did you changed the Remote Management Web Interface to use a different port other than port 80? some defaults to use 8080. So in your case, try this address in IE: http://10.0.0.250:8080

LInksys wrt160n v2 wireless router not connecting to internet

Most cable companies will only allow 1 active device at a time conneceted to the cable modem. When ever you change what is connected to the cable modem you must always cycle the power/reset your cable modem.

When you are reseting the units, always rset the cable modem first, wait until it boots back up then reset the router. If that doesn't fix the poblem then it may be a configuration problem.

I forgot to ask if you are cable or DSL.

Hope this helps
