My fridge ( above model) stopped making ice and is not making things cold on fridge part. put in a new filter thinking they were related but problem continues. Please Help.

if it has stopped cooling effectively in the refrig. most likely the freezer will fail in the next few days... the ice maker operates not only off of mechanical gears ,and water but also has to be cold enough in freezer to harvest ice... you need to check the freezer back wall and make sure there is no frost build up on back wall.. if there is then you have a defrost issue and need to address it quickly.. you will have to remove back wall along with shelves in the freezer section..take a hair dryer and thaw out ..check the heater for any breaks using a meter with continuity on both ends.. also check the drefrost terminator it is located on the coil usually top left or right side. if all looks good will be defrost control ...hope this helps repost with anymore questions....good luck to you....

Icemaker water line is frozen...i will remove everything and open the freezer door to let it warm up. When I chill the freezer again do I keep the icemaker arm up until the freezer is cold and then lower...

Dont leave freezer door open it will cause alot of problems. The ice maker will not call for water until the temp in freezer is cold enough. Remove the ice jam. If you remove from back of freezer it helps alot. Pull out of the back wall and remove ice be sure to put it back the way it was. Any further assistance please feel free to contact me.

The ice maker on my refrigerator has stopped making ice. Water is still flowing but the tray doesn't fill and the whole mechanism seems not to function.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If the ice maker dumps the frozen cubes , but doesn't refill with water , you should replace the water inlet valve , behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to . If the Ice maker does not eject the frozen cubes , replace the ice maker .
Also , check the ice maker fill tube , from the back wall inside the freezer , to the ice maker fill cup , to see if it's frozen . If so , you will need to remove it , and clean the ice out . This would be caused by a " seeping " bad water valve also .
Check the coils under the refrig , to make sure they are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp above 5 degrees , which is the temperature which the ice maker needs to operate properly .

Maytag Plus MSD2556AEW - frozen puddle on freezer floor

Here I am going to give you a lot of information. Because of the leaking your defrost condensate drain is most likely the reason. All on the page below may not be for your situation and some refrigerators do this over a period of time and the the water has no were to go but the freezer during defrost. Freezer side will not keep ice cream, popsicles or orange juice frozen. it will make ice in ice cube trays-the ice maker makes very few ice cubes.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check
, defrost heater, defrost thermostat.

Compartments are not real cold/ ice maker stopped working too

It sounds like your refrigerant was leaking out. There may be some settled at the bottom that would explain the frozen water on the bottom. a good appliance store should be able to find the leak fix it and add more refrigerant.

Ice Maker won't work

Hello,

If your trying to save a service call you have your work cut out for you. The ice maker is a unit that sits by itself attached to the wall or part of the freezer wall.

There are many reasons why you do not get ice and I will list them.

1- Temp of freezer got too cold and has frozen the pipe that feeds the water to fill the icemaker.
check to see if the icemaker has any ice in the area that fills and makes the cubes.
If the pipe is clogged, very gently put a small tipped screw driver in the fill hose that sites over the ice making row in the ice maker. Be careful you do not push your screwdriver out the back of the refer.
Check to see the freezer temp is not too cold and is freezing that pipe. 0-3 degrees F is good.

2.- check to make sure your water feeding the fridge is on. There is an on off valve to allow the water to feed the icemaker when it needs to fill. This could be bad. there are reset proceedures for the fridge, but unplugging the entire frige for 1 minute and plugging it back in you can listen for the the valve to come on and see if it fills the ice maker resevoir.

3. If it fills and freezes the ice resevoir, then the sensor in the ice tray does not sense the frozen ice and will not cycle and kick cubes. At this point, unless you are super tech, you will need to replace the entire icemaker unit.

Hope this helps.

Kenwood Refrigerator

THE ICE MAKER WILL STOP CYCLING WHEN THE TEMP IN THE FREEZER GETS ABOVE 10 DEGREES. IT HAS A BUILT IN THERMOSTAT THAT TRIPS AT 10 DEGREES.

CHECK THE BACK WALL OF THE FREEZER FOR FROST. IS THERE A FROST BUILDUP ON THE BACK WALL? IF YES,
THERE IS A FAILURE OF THE DEFROST CYCLE.
THREE ITEMS ARE INVOLVED IN THE DEFROST CIRCUIT.
THE CONTROL(TIMER), BI-METAL, AND HEATER. FIND THE CONTROL BEHIND THE TOE PLATE NEAR THE CENTER. THERE IS A KNOB THAT CAN BE TURNED TO ADVANCE THE
TIMER. WHEN IT CLICKS AND SHUTS OFF THE COMPRESSOR AND FAN, IT IS IN DEFROST CYCLE. WAIT FIVE MINUTES AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY SIZZLING OR A RED GLOWING IN THE FREEZER. IF THERE IS, THE TIMER IS BAD. REPLACE IT. IF THERE ISN'T, THE HEATER ASSEMBLY WITH BI-METAL WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED.
