Using a multi-meter, check all leads and connectors are correctly connected, and are receiving the correct voltage from the vehicle, and through past the inline fuses:

  • Yellow - Constant +12 VOlts (check inline fuse as well)
  • Red - Switched +12 Volts (check inline fuse as well)
  • Orange/White - Lighting Switch Terminal (check inline fuse as well)
  • Black - Chassis Ground
  • Blue/White - System Amp Remote
  • Light Green - Parking Brake Safety Lead
  • White & White/Black - Front Left Speaker
  • Gray & Gray/Black - Front Right Speaker
  • Green & Green/Black - Rear Left Speaker or Subwoofer (4-ohm)
  • Violet & Violet/Black - Rear Right Speaker or Subwoofer (4-ohm)
Check the Vehicle Radio Fuse, the fuse on the back of the Pioneer unit, and the inline fuses.

Noise and other factors may be causing the built-in microprocessor to operate incorrectly, press the RESET button on the unit and try again.

Resetting the microprocessor
Pressing RESET lets you reset the microprocessor to its initial settings without changing the bookmark information.
The microprocessor must be reset under the following conditions:
• Prior to using this unit for the first time after installation
• If the unit fails to operate properly
• When strange or incorrect messages appear on the display
  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  2. Remove the front panel.
  3. Press RESET with a pen tip or other pointed instrument.
After completing connections or when you want to erase all memorized settings or return the unit to its initial (factory) settings, Switch your engine ON or set the ignition switch to ACC ON before pressing RESET.

If any of the previously mentioned advice doesn't work for you, you may have a faulty device.

If the radio was incorrectly connected, this could short the circuit board inside, but the fuse is supposed to protect this from happening. It looks like you will need to return this radio and get another one, unless you are knowledgeable of the inside workings of the unit and can resolder resistors, capacitors, etc. that you may find to be bad. I personally do this kind of work on head-units, but I have been trained in this area. If you know someone who can fix the device for you, I say go for it.
