Question about Microsoft Windows? Vista Home Basic Edition Full Version for PC (882224181112)

My Vista will not even open- I tried on Safe mode- did the repair- and the message is Root cause- a patch is stopping the start of Vista- How can this be fixed?

    I had already tried safe mode ands restore to a former date--it didn't work. Thanks any way.
    I did the restore and did the repair action restore- it failed code 0x490 and the System Files integrity 0X17. The root cause "a patch is preventing the stystem from starting. log stated all was ok with the exception of the info I just listed. I would appreciate help as I know it is not an easy task. Thanks

According to the Microsoft Tech center, the "root cause patch is stopping the start of Vista" is a problem whereby a Microsoft auto patch did not install correctly and has corrupted your boot sequence. They say it can be fixed by the repair, but many people have complained that the repair made no difference, like you found. The best advice I can give you is to take out that hard drive, put it into another PC, back up your stuff, format and reinstall Windows. That's currently the easiest way.

    Hello.

    Go back to Safe Mode and choose System Restore. Select a date before this problem occurred. Hope this helps.

Method 1:

Vista boots just Black screen with cursor even in safe mode


Yes, this is a known issue with Vista. You need to back-up your data, format your hard drive and re-install Vista from the beginning.
There is really no use trying to repair it: it is damaged.
After you re-install Vista, do not forget to install service packs from microsoft.com.

Paint shop pro x2 ultimate upgrade wont rum on Vista Home


I havent actually solved the problem but I did get PaingShopProUltimate to run by starting up in "SAFE MODE" I tried it out and everything seemed to work ok. but of course this is not very convenient.

Window vista is not booting the computer


Try starting in safe mode. If it does boot in safe mode then go to HELP, THEN SYSTEM RESTORE, pick a date before you had these problems. Good luck. You start in safe mode by pressing F8 then selecting SAFE MODE from the menu.

if is not start in safe mode you must need to winxp recovery disk to repair windows xp.
Boot your computer with winxp disk then repair it.

after switching on the computer press F8 & Choose safe mode to boot the system & Restore the system in previose state & Before doing this make sure u backup the C Drive.

reboot the computer and then press f10 this should get you a screen with a text line that says safe mode,with net or command scroll down to last settings that worked and try that ps. you really need to make a recovery disk. its that important.

Start in SAFE mode (press F8 wile booting) and choose SAFE mode from the menu to see if it works in Windows DEFAULT setting. Then reboot and reset to 32Bit, and 78Hz max.

My guess is that MSoft pushed a patch or SP to your box and IT replaced the dll your monitor was using.

Computer windows will not come up


Try This:
To repair your computer using Startup Repair follow these steps:
  1. Boot into Vista installation DVD
  2. Choose your language settings and click Next
  3. Click Repair your computer
  4. Choose your operating system and click Next. This should bring up System Recovery Options.
  5. Click on Startup Repair
Startup Repair should now start diagnosing your system to identify the root cause of the failure. Once it has identified the root cause, it would automatically start repairing your computer. If you are curious to know what Startup Repair did, you can click on the details link and see which tests Startup Repair ran to diagnose the problem.
After Startup Repair has finished the repairs, click Finish to reboot your computer.
Your computer should now be able to boot normally into Vista!

Pinnacle Studio Plus version 10 Keeps Crashing


If you are getting any type of error message or warning message (except a fatal crash message), then , click here to see the FAQ titled "Studio Launch error/warning messages" to resolve these issues. For a fatal crash or any type of lockup/freezing while launching, continue with this FAQ, below.
If Studio was launching for some period of time and then it stopped launching, it is best to try to determine what changes have been made to the computer recently and undo the changes to see if it has an affect on the problem. Here's a short list of what could affect Studio's ability to launch:
  • A Studio patch was applied but it didn't install properly
  • The graphics driver was updated
  • Hardware was installed
We recommend using Windows XP System Restore. You can obtain more information on how System Restore works from the Microsoft web site at:

Troubleshooting steps for Studio hangs or crashing while launching (starting)
1. RESTART THE COMPUTER. Try restarting the computer
2. WAIT A FEW MINUTES: If Studio still won't launch, wait a few minutes to let it finish launching. We have noticed on some computers that it may take a little while for Studio to completely launch. Studio 10 users click here to see the FAQ on this.
3. LATEST VERSION OF STUDIO. There was a launch problems in previous versions of Studio 10 that are now fixed in the latest version. When troubleshooting any problem, it is always best to be on the latest version of the software.
If you have Studio version 12, download the latest version here.

If you have Studio version 11, download the latest version here.

If you have Studio version 10, download the latest version here .

Note: Studio 11 patches will only patch a previous install of Studio 11. Studio 10 patches will only patch a previous install of Studio 10. Etc.

How to download and install a patch:
  • When downloading the patch make a note of where it is being saved to. We recommend saving the patch to the desktop.
  • Before installing the patch, make sure that you do not have any other programs running. Studio must not be running.
  • Once it is fully downloaded, double-click on the patch to begin the installation.
  • Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the installation. Reboot the computer after applying the patch.

4. SAFE MODE: Try launching Studio in Safe mode. In Safe mode, many device drivers and applications do not load. If Studio will launch in safe mode, then the issue is most likely a configuration problem with your computer. NOTE: We do not recommend using Studio in Safe Mode. This step is for testing purposes only. To start in Safe mode:
  • Shut down the computer
  • When you turn it back on, tap the F8 key every couple seconds until a menu pops up. (If the XP splash screen appears, the F8 keys was pressed too late so restart the computer and try this step again)
  • On the menu, choose Safe Mode, and then press the Enter key
  • Launch Studio

If Studio won't launch in Safe mode, then Studio many not be installed properly or the install may be corrupt. We recommend uninstalling and reinstalling Studio.
