There are three hoses on the machine, the hose from the tank with the filter on the end, connects to the fuel inlet on the carb, this is the inlet closest to the pump side of the carb held with a single screw, there is then a hose nearest to the metering dide of the carb, this goes to the short conection on the back of the primer, the suction side, the long connection on the back of the primer, the pressure side returns to the fuel tank, just remember the primer pulls fuel from the carb, and back into the tank, not the other way round, if you have connected them the wrong way, this will explain why it runs badly.

Why did my fuel pump go out. Again i just replace it 3 weeks. Ago. 95 chev corsica

it could just be a bad fuel pump, it could also be a pinched in your fuel line somewhere, your fuel filter could be plugged, or something could of gotten hooked up wrong. I would look at the fuel lines and make sure there are no kinks in them, I would also try replacing the fuel filter, and when you replace the pump make sure everything is hooked up right. also make sure not to run your car low on gas the gas acts as a lubricant for the filter and helps keep it cool.

This is fuel starvation, start by replacing the fuel filter inside the fuel tank, use a piece of bent wire to hook the fuel line and filter out of the tank, check the condition of the fuel hoses up to the carb, any signs of leakage and you will have to change the hose. See if this works before we go into the carb to locate the blockage.

Why is gas leaking from the air filter

This is a carb flooding issue, there will be a rubber tipped needle in the carb, if this is not seating properly fuel will leak through the air filter, you need to go into the carb, check the metering lever height and replace the needle, unfortunatly it is not possible to replace the needle seat so if it continues to leak after fitting a new needle it will be a replacment carb.

Any help with mercury outboard motor

Replace the fuel line from tank to bulb and from bulb to engine. The old type lined tube gets damaged by the ethanol content in pump fuel. Buy non ethanol fuel if you can. The lining come away from the walls of the tube and blocks the flow. You can force it with the bulb, but the fuel pump is not strong enough to open up the lining. Your problem is becoming a common occurrence. The worst stuff is the grey tube apparently.

The other obvious thing is to make sure the vent is open on the tank and working, but engines will normally run for a few minutes unless you have a metal tank.

Take a look at these images, then click on the 'All' tab to get ethanol resistant fuel line.

1986 nissan truck starts fine runs a min. then stops.Driving it you have to keep pumping gas for it to keep running

Hook up a fuel pressure tester start and let run until dies and check pressure if plenty of pre.ssure If this is a carberated engine tune your air and fuel mixture jets located in front bottom of the carb.., hook up vacuum and set to your hightest reading and then set your idle screw to prefered idle which is around 8 RPM If this is a injected system hook up a fuel pressure guage and start engine and let it run until it stops keep an eye on pressure to see if the pressure drops or stops if so replace fuel ****

Two ports on Walbro carb - which line hooks to which?

The longest, and sometimes smaller in diameter of the two fuel lines, goes from the carburetor to the bottom of the tank. Leave enough slack in this line so that the filter that attaches to the end will rest comfortably at the bottom of the tank.

The other fuel line goes from the primer bulb to just inside the tank, (about an inch). make sure that you get the right size fuel lines. The plastic coupling goes on the end of this line, inside the tank. This keeps the line from pulling out of the tank.

(HINT): When feeding the lines through the tank holes, cut the lines at an angle. They will feed much easier into the holes. You can than cut them off square, once you know that you have enough to work with

Let me know if you need further assistance.
