Question about VideoLAN VLC

1 Answer

I installed VLC on my netbook, but cannot get it to work in full screen mode. It appears in a small square in the centre of the monitor screen. When I opt for full screen mode the picture does not enlarge to full screen size. I would appreciate you help.

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If you want to enlarge the picture or change the aspect ratio just press "A" on the keyboard. However the picture quality will change depends on the resolution of movie that you're playing

Thanks for using Fixya.

Re-install Microsoft silverlight, if that does't work then report the problem to Netflix and use the zoom function on your browser to make the video larger.

With windows7 screen is small@1024/768 is ok if you use 1440/768 how can i use 1024/768 and get full screen 20 ' wide screen

Hello.

If you have a Wide screen monitor it can only (look good) in a Wide screen resolution such as 1440x768.

1024X768 is the lower resolution, and it is for normal screen (square) monitors, not for wide screen monitors.

You cannot get a full screen at 1024X768 resolution with a Wide Screen Monitor.

Hope that Helps.

When I power up my T42 thinkpad, the screen is covered in little red squares. Any idea what this is and what I can do to correct it?

This could be one of two things--a bad LCD screen or a driver problem,
Start the computer in safe mode. It should look OK, but not really great resolution. If the squares appear then, try an external monitor. Are the squares on that? If so, it's your video card which just might be part of the motherboard and must be replaced.
If the external monitor is OK, then it's your LCD screen
If the screen looks OK in safe mode (the LCD screen) then your video drivers need updating.

you need to go to the properties of your display settings of the pc. your window size is dependent on your graphics card not the monitor. right click you desktop. goto properties. got to settings. change your resoluton. if you have a better than stock graphics card go to the software that came with the card and change the settings ther.

Booting problems with my Toshiba Satellite P105

Try to reinstall the video driver from Safe mode.
It appears your hard disk is OK but the operating system and or registry is corrupted.
1. Try installing the video driver first.
2. If it still does not work, back up your data files in Safe Mode then re-install XP again, make sure you delete the partition and create a new partition and do a full NTFS format, not a quick format.
