Hi,

Turn the tightener till the chain in the center of the bar at the bottom just hangs down about a 1/8"....
this will be good... too tight and the chain will not turn...too loose and it will come off...
that 1/8" is usually great for any saw...

As you can see the handle (parts 4&5) is what holds the bar tight...loosen that and you should be able to turn the tensioner adjustment and tighten the chain...if not then there is a good chance that the gears are stripped in the tensioner assembly...

They sure don"t make 'em like they used too!!!

I have a UT10519 and the chain keeps coming off bar. I noticed the inner guide is cut.

If the chain is showing signs of heavy wear, suggest replacing both the bar and the chain. Check the sprocket on the clutch hub for heavy wear on the teeth which will hasten wear on the chain teeth. Check chain oiling by running the saw tip near some cardboard at speed for a moment or two--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Tighten the chain until the lower run of chain just comes up to the bar, but not so tight that you can't turn the chain by hand. Hope this helps!

Bought a Homelite 14" electric chainsaw. After using it for about 15 minutes, the chain fell off. Don't understand why. Manual did not have any instructions on how to put it back on. Returned it to...

chain will stretch with use...keep it adjusted...rest chainsaw with blade on block of wood (not running spark plug lead off) adjust chain by loosening side bolt/s then on inside at front adjust screw till chain is tight then retighting bolt/s lift chain and with gloves on check you can still turn chain by hand..

I lost my manual and need to change the chain on my homelite chainsaw... never had one of these before... stihl and husky are pretty straight forward... this one not so much...

Turn the chain brake off, then remove the side cover (back off the adjustment screw several turns first). Clean the oil ports in the rear of the bar and the area around the oil outlet port. Fit the chain to the sprocket, then work the bar into the chain and pull the bar outward to tighten the chain. Fit the cover back making sure the adjustment tang drops into the large hole in the bar. Run the mounting nuts up finger tight, adjust the chain so that it doesn't droop from the bar, but allows the chain to be turned by hand, then tighten the nuts and recheck chain tension. Hope this helps!

How to put chain on properly

Like this:
b047417.gif Chain Adjustment
  1. Make sure the chain brake is off (gloves will protest your fingers).
  2. If necessary, loosen the bar nuts that are clamping the clutch cover in place (or whatever holds the clutch cover and bar on). They do not need these really loose - finger tight will do.
  3. Ease the tension adjustment until the chain is obviously loose.
  4. Using one hand, hold the nose of the bar up.
  5. While holding the nose up, adjust the tensioner so that the center of the chain just touches the underside of the bar, add a touch more.
  6. Continue holding the nose of the bar up & tighten up the bar nuts / bolts / quick-release system.

My chain came off. How do I get it back on?

Use page 25 of this downloadable manual as a guide.
http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/support/download-manuals/?query=359&types=O
Loosen your tension adjust before attempting to fit the chain on the bar.

Is it possible to adjust the chain break & how to do it.

hate to say this, but, there is no way to adjust the tension on the brake band.either the spring is weak or the brake band is broken.either can be changed but it's not easy.spring is under a lot of tension and can fly out when taking it apart or installing, you can get the entire cover as a unit if so desired...hope this helps, let me know
