There were instructions with the new drum cartridge that explained how to reset the drum counter. If you still have the box and paperwork, then go through that step-by-step and reset the counter. The machine still thinks that it has the old drum. After a certain amount of copies or prints, the machine will save itself by turning off the printer or copy functions.
35YRTECH, aren't you being a wee bit flippant? I just changed my drum, had the same problem, and no where in mys instructions does it tell me how to inform the printer that I did reset the drum.
Anyway, here's how to do it (form the brother web site)
This message would appear if the drum unit is near the end of its
life. Use the drum unit until you have a print quality problem, then
replace the drum unit with a new one.
This message would continue to appear if the drum counter was not reset when you replaced the drum. To reset the drum follow the instructions below:
Open the front cover.
Press the Clear/Back key.
Press 1 to reset.
Close the front cover, pressing firmly on each side until they click into place.
I fixed the problem (following the user's guide). 1. After reinstalling the new drum unit into the printer, keep the front cover open. 2. Press "Clear/Back" on the machine 3. Press "1" and when the LCD shows "Accepted", close the front cover.
