Replacement bracelet for Tag Heur 6000 series, model #WH1151.BD0678

My Tag Heur is 8 years old, the bracelet broke, and 2 jewelers said it could not be repaired...it needs replacement.

But the Tag Heur replacement is $800, which I cannot afford.

Is their an aftermarket band/bracelet, in stainless steel, that would fit this watch?

Thank you.

Mine has broken the stainless steel link in the band twice. They want $1900 for a replacement band. This is a design fault and Tag Heuer should stand vbehind this watch as it was one of the most expensive watches they made in 1990's

the bracelet of my Tag Heuer 6000 series, model #WH1112-K1 broke and now I need to pay about $800 for a replacement. This is just ridiculous!

  • Anonymous Sep 03, 2008

Yes, This has just happened to me, I love this watch, but this should never happen. I am waiting to hear what this will cost me. When I got it cleaned, I believe the person that did this took every link off to re-buff it and this caused the wear. Very aggrivating, since I spent nearly 1600.00 on my first nice watch 7 years ago.

My wife and I each had exactly the same problem. We've sent the bands off to the authorized repair facility and also shopped them around to jewelers with the same answer. TAG bands are (or were then) ****, it's a known problem, they won't do anything to fix them.

  • awhicker Nov 27, 2008

A jewler sent my tag out to them and they replaced the pins...thinking the bent pins were causing the problem. That was 8 years ago. Now it broke again...and another jeweler made the dimples that hold the pins in deeper. but it broke again and he said he must have missed one. Well it again broke...haven't gone back...but it was only $19

Ladies 6000 series - NOT made to last!!

I bought this watch in 1995, and it gave me 10 years 'every-day' use. All would be great if only the bracelet was made better... as anyone who has this watch will know, the parts are very intricate and clever(?!), and over time, metal wears away metal. But it came with a 1 year guarantee (wahoo, thanks Tag Heuer). I love the brand, but the company refuse to accept responsibilty for a bad design, and that in my book, puts them way below barely competent.

Jewellers won't touch it, you can't replace with a normal strap (because of the way its fixed to the watch), so i suspect there are many 6000's in pieces stuck in a drawer somewhere. I'm glad Brad Pitt (and others) made lots of $ for being brand ambassadors, because their products ****, and the company has no honesty or courage to admit they cocked up on this one.

If anyone has a solution for a fix for this watch, it'd be great to hear from you..

I've had my 6000 medium size since 1994 and my 3rd leather strap is now broken. These straps are so expensive that for the past five years I have anly been wearing it occasionaly, but still the strap has given out.
Also my TAG is inaccurate. It looses about 5 mins every 48 hours. I've had it serviced by TAG (mega expensive) and by an independant.
I thought that chronometer actually meant the watch was very accurate.
Not a chance in hell I'll ever be knowingly buying another LVMH product. They don't give a ****! Got your money, now go **** yourself.

I would be interested in buying a couple of links for the 6000 mens bracelet, anyone up for that ?

We lost the replacement links and they are prohibitively expensive to replace

    Hi there,

I have the same problem but Tag in Switzerland are going to take a look, seems from my engineering background that some parts in the bracelet are under engineered which needs to be stripped, defective parts replaced and rebuilt.

    Regards,

    John

I have two tag 6000. one of the watch bands broke and I found a great fix. look on ebay for a rubber band called for rolex presidents. it fits the tag and the ribbing goes perfectly with the watch style. a easy and inexpensive fix, although you loose the stainless band...good luck

Perhaps this replica watch and strap would fit. It's $295

I put a Formula One Tag stainless band on a 6000 professional chronometer, the sheen is slightly different, but it's a very strong band. Double clasp. You won't break it.Similar in appearance to a Jubilee band. You could buff the band up a bit to a perfect match if yo like. Goes in with pins instead of screws. Fit is a bit snug but it goes.

This problem is very common for this watch.
As far as I have been able to determine, there is no aftermarket stainless band available. The quotes I recieved are in line with those noted above, which everone agrees is ridiculous.

My solution has been to use an inexpensive leather after-market band (I bought mine at Jarods). It looks pretty good with my stainless 6000. Not really a solution but at least I can continue to wear what was a very expensive watch.

Same thing happened to me with my 1997 model

My solution

I purchased an unused 2006 model from a local trading website called donedeal.ie I got the replacement for 350 euro, took the bracelet and sold the watch minus bracelet on ebay for 210 euro
The total cost of my unused replacement strap was 140 euro, but it did take me 2 years to find the watch

The bracelet broken from the watch face. Can this be fixed?

You can try taking it to a jeweler to see if they can do a repair on it. But it is most likely that you will have to get a new skeleton case and transfer all of the inner working from the broken watch to the new case. Here again, a job best done by a jeweler because they would have the speciality tools that are required.

Links are broken in the bracelet.

Thank you for contacting FixYa.
Most watch companies do not warranty bands, but I would suggest contacting Tag Hauer at this link:

Best regards. Jewel
If you have extra links from being shortened, that may be of use too. Try a local jeweler for that repair.

The folding deployment clasp on the bracelet/strap for my Tag 1000 series ladies watch has broken. Might a replacement clasp from any of the current tag models fit?

The newer straps on TAG are generally wider than the professional series and the cost of a new genuine TAG heuer clasp or bracelet may easily exceed the costof buying an entire watch of that series used.
I recommend searching for an after-market strap/ buckle usuing your case back numbers as the search criteria.
