There are a number of reasons foe excessive stretch, the most common reason is inadiquate oil to the bar, or the wrong type ( non fling ) oil being used, other reasons are poor chain sharpening, incorrect chain tention.

Chain will not stop spinning on the Poulan Pro 42 cc 18 inch chainsaw, will cut wood with out pulling trigger. Runs is very vast, dies when pull trigger.

I would say it has an air leak, through a gasket or crank seal, make sure the carb is tight and sealing properly.

Chain won't stay tight on my poulan 222 pro. I have the correct chain size. Does the bar need to be replaced?

No, the bar fasteners are not tight enough. If the saw is under warranty, take it to a servicing dealer for repair or instructions to correct what you are doing wrong. Good luck!

I have a poulan pro 260 chainsaw and just replaced the bar and chain. Tighten chain and brake nuts and after a few seconds of cutting the bar is shaking and the chain is loose. Switched back to the old bar...

check the cog that the chain runs on, the one on the back of the centrifugal clutch they are supposed to be changed when you change the bar ((i dont bother until iget symptoms like yours or the chain starts to get tight and loose tight and loose)

I have a Poulan Pro PP3516AVX chain saw. I used it

Their not the best saws but make sure the nuts holding the bar and cover on are tight after adjusting chain sometimes improper cutting will continue to kick chain off bar.
