Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

E05: Flashing Fault LED: Flashing Alarm: Beeping = Output on inverter is shortcircuit

- Disconnect your output terminals and see if you still have the code. This is telling you there is an external short.
- If you still have the error with the output terminals disconnected start looking for internal inverter shorts to the output connector. (Chaffed wire / hot wire signs / internal + lead ground)
- If you have Circuit Breakers / fuses on your output side open all the CB/s or remove all fuses then turn on the CB's / install fuses one at a time until you note the Er05 error. Then troubleshoot the shorted circuit with an Ohm Meter.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

The 14 AWG Positive wire should be connected to one side of a 30 A relay (typical fog lamp relay available at most automotive stores). The relay's other 30 A contact should be connected to the battery positive post via a 10 AWG (up to 6 ft/2 m)

My powersource400 have never last more than 4 hour and that is with a destop and a 75 watt bulb.

Assuming a car battery with a capacity of 70Ah at its nominal voltage of 12V, the total energy stored in it amounts to 12V * 70Ah = 940Wh.

Your Xantrex XPower 400 Inverter is designed to deliver continuous power of 320W at a specified efficiency of 90% (I doubt that, this degree may be achieved for ideal conditions of load / outside temperature / air humidity / current beer price, but not for the whole power range, but let it be 90% for the argument's sake).

Lets assume your desktop needs 150W of power (no high end CPU or graphics board involved), plus the 75W light bulb, plus 10% loss due to power conversion, gives a total of ~280W power need.
This is well inside specs, so no problem here.

However, your battery can deliver this power for 940Wh / 280W = 3.8h only until its completely depleted.

Your observation of four hours of time from full charge to depletion is thus quite exactly what you can expect, you have no reason for complaints unless you were promised a longer time under the conditions you give.

If you don't have enough current to run the inverter, even at 14.1 v, it will go into protection. Make sure the wiring is heavy enough to provide the current needed to run the inverter. There should be a label on the fan saying what vosges it needs to run. Try powering up the fan outside the inverter.

Fues blown in xpower inverter 1750 plus

These fuse are often intend to protect voltage inversion. (reverse voltage)
So, if the eight fuse are blown, then maybe the voltage red and black wire were not connected to the correct polarity.

then again, even if these fuse are intend to be use as reverse protection, it may occure that transformer short out, transistor short out and many other short circuit inside the inverter as occure.

So replacing all eight fuse might not restore the unit function, they may even blow again.
Also, reversing polarity that cause the fuse to blow might have damage the transistor stage.

I am still, investigating few other problem with those unit.
I don't have all answer yet.
