Question about Saeco 01167 Electric Kettle

1 Answer

I recently returned my two month old Saeco kettle and replace it with the exact same kettle. The first one stopped turning on. I put it on the pedastal and no light, boil button no response. The exact same thing just happened to the new kettle. I boiled the first pot of water, it worked. I just put the second pot on to boil, no response at all. I plug the unit into other working outlets, still not response. Am I doing something wrong. Gayle

No! you have clearly a manufacture defect or a design issue, I would take it back and select a different brand if possible or your money back.

I own a Philips Saeco Intelia Espresso coffee machine Type HD8751. It is operating fine, in terms of coffee making, but for some reason it has just started displaying in 'black standby mode' rather than...

Not a solution as such but my Philips Saeco Intelia HD8751 has developed the exact same fault and is about 8/9 months old. The machine is being picked up in a few days to be repaired by Philips under warranty. I can only suggest you contact Philips for a repair as this is obviously a product fault.

If it's that recent an acquisition, it is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Return it where you bought it, else contact Saeco.

My daughter bought me an Alessi cordless kettle for Christmas 2008. After 9 months it simply stopped heating water! The red light was lit on the base, so we knew the fuse hadn't gone, but it was completely...

Have you tried using it on a different socket outlet ? Possibly there is a problem with the wiring at this socket.
If the electricity supply "trips" at the consumer unit it is either the RCD which trips due to e.g. the base of the kettle becoming wet or alternatively the MCB tripping due to an overload which shouldn't happen unless there is a fault in the kettle.
When you got a replacement kettle presumably they replaced the base also?

Power cord overheats

The thermostat is not shutting the unit down and cycling it on/off as it should. This will cause the power cord to overheat and it will catch fire. STOP using this unit and either replace it or have it repaired. More than likely cheaper to just replace it.

I can't stop the water light from flashing

we had the exact problem with the same Sirena machine: per the manual, just use the steam wand (turn on and let flow) until the blue light goes off; this will prime the machine and it solved our problem.

Trips circuit when you turn on the Kettle heat

When the fuse blows see what else in the house is out, maybe you have the circuit overloaded. Try putting the popcorn maker on a different unused curcuit to see if it still blows. Then you will know if it is the popcorn maker.

Water kettle does not boil water

I had the exact same problem. The kettle would warm water but not boil. I bet you have hard water - try putting 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water mix and turning it on. I did this, fixed the problem!

Sediment in my electric tea kettle

it is very hard to get rid off ass the sediment comes from the tap water untill you boil the water you dont see this sediment and take it for granted that the water is clean but as soon as you put it in a electric kettle this sediment builds up on the element then it brakes off and floats around in the kettle most new kettles have a filter near the spout so when you pour the water out it traps it in the filter then this can be removed and cleaned but the sediment floating in the kettle is hard to get out you can clean the element and descale it and then just keep pouring water in and out of kettle till its all out but it will soon build up again there are two ways to stop sediment one is filter all the water before putting in kettle but this can be slow process so not worth doing or the best sollution is buy a kettle that has a filter by the spout of the kettle and clean this regularly hope this is some help to you............................................
