Question about HP LaserJet 3800n Printer

3 Answers

I have a 3800n that the print quality is very poor-meaning the background is gray streaks where the paper should be the only thing you see. Making the paper look dirty. hope that explains things. this printer has only HP cartridges. I have another 3800 that has these same issues, but it has some HP & some "refilled" non HP cartridges. thanks

You can try changing the print density under print quality in the control panel. YOu can also check the reset to factory default and see if this helps. It could need what is called a maintenance kit where the fuser and rollers are replaced. I install these all the time and sounds like this is what you need.

The maintanence program available through the menu options will provide you with a path to allow the printer to run its full internal maintanence programs; I run these internal programs roughly every 3-4 months and the printer resets itself and usually fixes print quality difficulties; give it a try and let us know if it works; take care

Try printing something in color and something with only black (like a document). Does the black printout have the streaks ? If so check the black cartridge. If the color printout has the streaks try checking the yellow, or magenta, or cyan cartridges. Also look at the transfer belt (its the big wide black colored belt thats attached the the front door that opens downward.) A worn transfer belt can cause this problem too. Ive worked on a lot of 3800's and am not impressed with them. Good luck.

Check out this link, it should provide you with the information you need to clear your problem...usually
your problem is associated with the drum not being completely wiped after a print job, but due to the age of your printer ( Manufacturer Discontinued ) follow HP's troubleshooting information

I have one problem with hp laserjet P4014n printing all paper black. the background is black all but word are showing can someone help me in this

If your background is "Black" it's going to print it all black, change your background color to "Gray" and your machine will then print a gray background instead of black. Also note that when you print a black background your toner life expectancy will be no where your expected yield ratio is. Average yield is 5% for X (X meaning size of cartridge) amount of printed pages. If your printing a black background your utilizing 100% yield coverage. Not sure if this is the answer your looking for. However basic black and white printing with a black background will print the page completely black.

HP4+ print quality was perfect, but printer was jamming, so I replaced all the roller parts in the Maintenance Kit, which corrected all jamming! All the paper rollers and the transfer roller is now...

Run the 1/2 test.
Load paper in the manual feed tray.
Print anything that requires more than 2 sheets.
As the paper enters the printer open the top cover.
Remove the toner cartridge.
Look down at the paper.
If it looks like the problems you described, change the toner.
If it looks good, reinstall the old transfer roller and rerun the test.
If transfer roller doesn't fix it, you have a bad fuser. Put the old one in and repeat.

Print quality is poor. I hace cleaned corona wire and poblem is still there. Entire page is streaked with black. White paper comes out gray. What else can I do? Should I change the toner cartridge?

If you have a old drum or old toner cartridge switch them and see if it goes away. Other wise start with a new toner cartridge. I sell them for 40.00 and the drum for 60.00. Steven 818-888-0006

The copier's making gray streaks on the paper

For all copiers that use dry toner/ink and a rotating exposure drum, vertical streaks are usually the result of a worn drum cleaner blade. Replace the cleaner blade to fix this problem.

On Canon iRC 3200 Laser Printer:: streaks of fainted print

if one side prints well its not the fuser, plus those fusers normaly make alot of noise when they start to act up. right above the bypass tray is a cover with a screw in the front of it. remove this and inside is the ITB belt(two blue handles) if you pull it out there is a metal plate on the bottom bending this up can solve this problem. the paper can drag across this plate causing streaks.hope this helps.

Printer has set for a while. The print quality is very poor. Black is grey, there are streaks across the page.

Take the cartridge out and shack it side to side a few times to move the toner around and reinstall it.

CLJ8550n poor print quality and wrinkled paper

this is usually not caused by the paper tray. this problem is usually caused by the fuser assembly. check your paper path. dead cycle the printer, shut the printer down before the paper enters the fusing area, check for wrinkles. remove all paper, print again, check the output, wrinkles, replace the fuser.

Grey background over entire page.

If toner is getting onto the transfer belt, it can only get there by either being put there intentionally, or leaking.

Failure of Transfer Belt is normally degraded print quality - usually poor density, or a failure of the support behind the belt (usually puncturing the belt), and scoring a drum.

Print quality problem

Hi there sound to me like the toner cartridge is either faulty or leaking. Is it or has it been refilled if so remove cartridge vacuum out the insides of loose toner install brand new toner cartridge then test again. It cannot be the fuser unit as it will have quality problems all the time so try above and I hope it works for you.

Thanks J
