I would recommend that you unplug the phone, and if there is a battery in it, take it out as well, and reinstall after 5 minutes. If that does not resolve your solution then you will want to call the land line phone carrier and have them check your lines. If you do not want to call the phone company, then you will need to check the line by plugging in another phone. If the result is the same then you have a line issue.
