Question about Vacuums

Open Question

We have Lanson Smoke Alarms hardwired to our house. Model Number LANSD240I. They're started beeping for no reason and the red light flashes. I'll get new 9V batteries to try that but is there anything else it could be? Cheers Brett

SOURCE: red flashing light with 6 beeps

It means you need to clean the sensors. I have had this problem every now and then. There are 4 plastic clear sensors that you can clearly see when you put roomba upside down.

I have found the best and most effective way to clean them is with a dust wipe. You push the dust wipe in with a cotton swab or even a pen, and rub it around the face of the sensors cleaning the dust off, and it will work fine again.

The reason you need to use a dust wipe like a Swiffer brand is that it is very effective and will pick up all the dust. You may not see the dust and you will keep getting that red flashing error though the sensor may look clean to you.

I just had that problem, and after I used the dust cloth, it's working fine again. Good luck.

My dyson animal corless has a blinking red light and will not chareg. How do i fix this

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are possible reasons why your Dyson unit flashes a red light. If the red light flashes with the machine in the charger, the battery may be outside of its temperature range. Remove the battery from the charger and leave at room temperature until the red light no longer flashes when placed in the charger. Also, ensure that the filter is correctly positioned within the main body, with the metal sensor in the bottom left-hand corner facing the main body. If the problem still doesn't fix, I would suggest to get in touch with Dyson for more troubleshooting guide. Dyson number is 1-844-679-1647.

Lanson smoke alarm model LANSD240B S/N 139606 Alarm alert beeping. Replaced battery, tried 2 new battries, still beeps. No smoke or fumes found.

try this, remove the unit and take out the battery you will see 4 small rubber plugs in the back.
remove these and take out the 4 screws, you will find a lot of dust and insects in there, gently blow out with compressed air and the sensor as well.
I did 2 problem ones in my house and now they are working fine

Our carbon monoxide dectector model CO910, bought several years ago (10+) beeps every 30 seconds with an "err" message. All windows where it is are open. No one is feeling ill. Is it just an error on...

CO2 and Smoke detectors have an internal sensor that has a design life of 5 years from the date of manufacture. After the 5 years you start getting false alarms due to the sensor itself exceeding its average life span. On the combination CO2 and Smoke deterctors you will often see a manufacture date or a replace by date inside the cover on the main board.
On AC powered models such as this one you will just get the error when the sensor fails. If you got the full 5+ years out of your CO2 sensor then you should be happy that it served a full life expectancy.

Some Wiki data on CO2 detectors:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_monoxide_detector

This paragragh appears under installation

The gas sensors in CO alarms have a limited and indeterminable life span, typically two to five years. The test button on a CO alarm only tests the battery and circuitry not the sensor. CO alarms should be tested with an external source of calibrated test gas, as recommended by the latest version of NFPA 720. Alarms over five years old should be replaced but they should be checked on installation and at least annually during the manufacturers warranty period.

Backs up spins in circles, then red light flashes and beeps

Sounds like either the battery is bad or not being charged properly with subsequent loss of programming.

Red sensor

If your Roomba's red "check robot" light comes on, the Roomba should also give a hi-lo warning tone, then a number of beeps. Check the number of beeps with the chart toward the end of your manual-- it should tell you what to do.

Roomba red 4100 cleans in small circle stops starts agains cleans small circle stops then status light comes on and clean button blinks.

When the status light comes on, the Roomba is going to sing "uh-oh," and then beep a number of times. Count the beeps. They're a code that tells you what's wrong with the Roomba. You can check iRobot's website for a chart of beep codes. Search "What is Roomba saying to me?" on the troubleshooting page.
