you need to install touchpad drivers then it will work properly

Save BIOS settings and reboot.

I am unfamiliar with the particular laptop, so I hope one of these applies. I've downloaded one of the winxp manuals, and it opens fine, so I can at least vouch for the legitimacy of the files.

You can download the drivers from ASUS WEB site. check the keyboard out.. maybe an error...

and you maybe able to test for a hardware error thrown by a microsoft upate by rolling back to a restore point before the problem started

Don't worry my friend also facing this problem with your Asus new laptop but i suggest to call Asus customer care number. My friend call this number and Asus technicians solve the problem in same days. The asus customer support number is 1-844-395-2200 (Toll-free) USA.

you have the NUMBER LOCK ON switch it off by pressing the fn key and look for numlk or number lock key written in the fn key colour.

I don't think F9 works on XP HD versions, only on linux SD versions. Use the Recovery DVD.
