Grundig GUFSDTR500HD Hi, the above freesat recorder has an intermittent fault on record. When I am watching a pre-recorded program from the library, the image freezes every 30 seconds or so. The signal strength is ch1 78%, ch2 68%. Is this a HDD problem or signal problem. Thanks Dom

SOURCE: Grundig GUFSDTR500HD FreeSat PVR Problem

Hi There, I've never had this problem with my Sky box, it knows which programs are repeats. I suspect its a problem with the GUFSDTR500HD. I have had two of these boxes from Costco, and both have both been as buggy as hell. They have recorded random programmes, they have missed recording programs, they often crash (black screen), series link seems to get it's knickers in a twist, and the up and down directional buttons fail to work after coming out of the guide or menu screen. To top it off, I found that the remote control also interferres with my B&Q fireplace... cycling through the colours when I change channel. Both of these boxes have gone back to Costco and I will never touch another Harvard Group (previously Alba, including Bush/Goodmans/Grundig) box again. Back to sky HD for me!

HOW DO I RECORD FREESAT FROM TX-L42D25B TO DMR-EX773EB

link the output from freesat box to input on recorder, output from recorder to TV. if you have the correct leads. then the freesat will play through the recorder to TV even when recorder is off.
To record, set record from the input, av1, or what ever it's called on the recorder.timer recordings can be set the same way, or if the system allows, record from input detect.

I have bought a Grundig 320GB/500GB freesat unfortunatly I keep losing sound from my tv the problem is with the tv. I was wondering if it would be possible to connect 1 or 2 speakers to the box to get...

TV's aren't good audio sources anyway. They usually have speakers suitable for lo-fi watching such as news and talk shows.

You don't say how the audio gets to the TV. Buried in the signal on the RFcoaxial? HDMI?

You can't just hang speakers on the Grundig.

If you have an audio system with an optical or coaxial audio input the best multichannel audio would be heard by skipping past the TV anyway.

How do i connect my samsung dvd recorder sh853m to my free sat box? Also is it possible to record a channel from free sat onto my samsung recorder while also watching a different free sat channel.

Hi,

If it's a Standard-Definition (SD) FreeSat box then a SCART cable would be the normal method of connection to your DVD recorder. This would connect to the SCART/EXT OUT socket on the back of the FreeSat box and the SCART/EXT IN on the DVD recorder. However, this depends on whether your FreeSat box has multiple SCART outputs and whether you are using a SCART cable to connect to the TV.

If there is no spare SCART output socket on the FreeSat box, then you need to use an alternative connection which is common to both devices, i.e. co-axial, and make sure you are connecting from an OUT socket on the FreeSat box to an IN socket on the DVD recorder.

If you have a FreeSat HD box, then you need to connect it to the DVD recorder using an HDMI cable or another cable type that will carry an HD signal.

You will only be able to record from a different Satellite channel if you have a Dual LNB with 2 feeds to the FreeSat box. The LNB is the receiver that attaches to the arm on the satellite dish. You can determine whether you have a Dual LNB as you will have 2 cables from the Dish to the FreeSat box. They may be joined as one cable, but there will be 2 F-plugs (threaded co-axial plug) on each end.

If you don't have 2 cables then you will only be able to record the same channel as you are watching. To record another channel, you need a FreeSat box that supports this feature and each channel needs also a separate feed from the dish.

Hope this helps. If you need any further assistance please post back with the brand model number of your FreeSat box and details of the connections you are using between the FreeSat box, the TV and the DVD recorder.

Regards,
BElectric

Setting a new Panosonic TV

If it has no freesat tuner then you can only record what the TV is viewing/tuned to as an output from the TV.

Record and watch different channels with freesat

I believe that the Humax can only output 1 channel and because it has no built in hdd and twin channel capabilty that is all you can record 1 channel (unlike sky +/sky HD) so that means also that unless you watch a different source (like the picture from your aerial (terrestial channels)) you are stuck with having to watch the channel you record
