I'd recommend for you to download their scan diagnostic utility on this link. it would help most of the software issues you may have.
to make sure its not the printer in itself having issues, please try to do a photocopy of any colored picture you may have.
If there is any issue, then you will need to do a hard reset on it by pressing the power button for 30 seconds.
if there is none after the copy, then try to reinstall the driver via the CD or by hp.com and see support and drivers.
If this fails, then it must be serviced.
