I want to take photographs in B/W with my Canon PowerShot SX30 IS. This option is not lit up in the multi func menu so I can not change it. Why is this, and what do I need to do make it happen? Regards, AC

Hi there, I have a canon powershot sx130 and I don't know how to change the colour settings on it to black and white? If you could please give me the steps to do this it would be greatly appreciated!...

I have the SX10IS your options should be the same. You only have the option to change colors in the manual modes (on the dial; P, Tv, Av, M & C). Press 'func. set' button, on the menu on the left the second option down is a paintbrush that is the my colors menu, select it and you can scroll through to black and white. Also as an option most photo software can convert a color image to black and white.

in auto it wont be there as its on by default, you cant turn it off. but put the camera in P mode or any manual mode and it will let you turn it from one shot, continuous or off.

I can't find how to change the setting for photo size.

Press the FUNC/SET button, then select L in the FUNC menu. Press the right/left buttons to select an option, then press the FUNC/SET button.

This is in the "Change the Recording Pixels (Image Size)" section in the manual (page 68 in the downloadable edition ).

Reset the camera. Go to menu button, the arrow right to settings and tools, scroll all the way down to RESET settings. Hit Func/Set button to bring up reset option, arrow right to OK and hit Func/Set again to say yes. Camera should have picture least this is what we did to fix a camera that did that to us. good luck

Taking a smaller image from S80

In picture-taking mode, hit the Func Set button. You will see menus of options along the left side and bottom of the display. Tap the bottom of the scroll ring (the ring around the Func Set button) until the bottom option of the left menu is highlighted in red. This option sets the image size of the pictures you are taking. Change this size by rotating the scroll wheel. The 5 options are Large, Medium1, Medium2, Medium3, and Small. The image size in pixels is displayed above the bottom menu as you switch between sizes. When finished, hit Func Set again.
