Bluetooth on iphone is crippled somewhat.. you cannot for example connect to another phone or a computer like you can with other bluetooth enabled phones.. The bluetooth on iphone can only be used to connect to headset/sat-nav hands free kits etc at the moment.. maybe in a future upgrade they will relax this.

The reason the iPhone won't pair with many cars is that the phone doesn't support rSAP (remote-SIM-Access-Profile). There is a Cydia app called RSAPserver (requires a jailbroken iPhone) that will install an alternate Bluetooth stack that works. There is a 10 day trial and the commercial version costs about $20, but that is still cheaper than replacing a phone or car.

SOURCE: bluetooth problems iphone

This is not strictly true - my iPhone connects wonderfully to my Plantronics Voyager 520 headset. It will not connect to other phones, headphones, etc. via bluetooth. It is intentionally crippled and will only connect to a headset via bluetooth.

My guess is that Apple sells songs and doesn't want you trading them around to your friends via bluetooth. Whatever the reason, it's quite annoying.

Connect the iPhone to the other end of the cable. The cable goes into the data connection slot on the bottom of the iPhone. There is another slot on the top of the cable into which the Bluetooth device should be plugged in.or you might need to reinstall the bluetooth drive

The problem with the iPhone 3GS is that it can only detect audio devices through Bluetooth (if your using Bluetooth) an alternate you could do is look in the app store for a Bluetooth file transfer

The iPhone unfortunately does not pair with just any device, it would be best to check compatibility before purchasing a new peripheral for your iPhone.

IPhone bluetooth disease!!!

Bluetooth on the iphone only recognises other iphones or bluetooth devices such as the handsfree in your car. It will not find other mobile phones with bluetooth. Another scam for apple to get everyone to buy their fones I assume.

Apple ifone bluetooth

you have to make sure that bluetooth is turned on.

go to your home screen, touch settings, then general, then bluetooth, make sure the bluetooth switch is set to on.

Then follow your directions for the your headset for pairing, usually it involves holding the power button down for so many seconds, then it will enter a "pairing" mode where the headset is able to be seen by phones.

Once that happens it should pop up on the bluetooth page of the iPhone and it will ask for the devices password. Most devices the default password is 1111.

Hope this helps and enjoy your Iphone, I know I do ;)
