Question about Televison & Video

6 Answers

JVCAV-32X37SUE switches off (by itself) with pilot light flashing alternate red/green very fast, and has to have power off completely for about 5 mins, before it can be started again. It will then operate for 20/30 mins before switching off again. Just before switching off, video modulation is lost, with raster and prominent fly-back lines visible, (sound is OK), remote ceases to work. Can you help, Please?

JVC AV-32x37SUE This is a CRT TV, NOT a projection TV. The pilot light flashes very fast CONTINUALLY until power is completely removed either by using the ON/OFF button or unplugging from the mains. After 5/10 mins it can be switched on again and works normally for 20/30 mins before switching itself off again.

  • jamesburnsid Aug 04, 2008

Unlikely to be loose connection or cold solder as it can be switched on again reliably after a few minutes. Could be heat related, but taking back off with improved ventillation does not alter time of ocurrance. Have circuit diagram, DVM, etc., and experience of working with older models, but would like a little more guidance on where to start testing.

  • jamesburnsid Aug 05, 2008

There is a protection circuit guarding the HOT,the HO transistor and associated diode (all high voltage) and I am begining to suspect that one of these is breaking down after a short period and triggering the protection circuit, switching the TV off.
I really need someone with experience of this or similar models, who would probably be able to pinpoint the problem right away.

  • jamesburnsid Aug 10, 2008

My computer went down (sudden black screen and wouldn´t boot), but I fixed that (faulty memory chip), and I am still aiming to fix my TV.
So come on guys, get your thinking caps on - someone must have something more specific on a fault like this.

I think this is a case of the protection module kicking in due to a defect in the soldering or one of the components..Difficult to say without actually testing the real thing... Best bet would be to get a serviceman to take a look at it. Or else just chuck it away and buy a new piece..Cost of repairs would be almost the same anyways..

I would have a service person look at it. it sounds like an overheating problem to me and that could cause a lot of larger problems.

Does it give White raster or any color (Red-Green-blue) before going to Off? Your answer will help me to identify the problem area in TV.

Ok, in my opinion, your TV required G2 volt (Screen Volts) adjustment only. Open its back cover, there is Fly back Transformer, its has 2 knobs, upper is Focus, lower is Screen Volt control. Just decrease the volts by rotating it anti-clock wise. thats all. Its technical advise.

Hi,

Baased on your post that the unit operates "for 20/30 mins before switching off again" one can presume that there is no component defect. What is probable is a loose connection, a cold solder or a heat related issue. Having said these, then diagnosis would involve checking the high current or power components such as resistors, regulators, the HOT, the FBT and perhaps what is only needed is either making sure all the plug in connectors are seated right or doing a re-solder of their joints. Of course this would require a basic familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, perhaps the use of a DVM and definitely the use of a soldering iron. A copy of the service manual with schematic diagram and voltage reading may help. Further, this calls for experience in working with high voltages during live test with the back cover off. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), then the services of a qualified professional might be in order.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi again and appreciate the postback/comment.

We can test if it is cold solder or heat related. operate the TV with the back cover off. It might help if there is a conveniently sized mirror facing the TV since you would be working at the back. For this you would need an insulated rod about 18 inches long. I use a broken fishing rod. During the time the TV switches off after 20/30 minutes, poke around the board with the insulated rod. Apply enough pressure to slightly bend the board down. If it is a cold solder (or even a loose connection) the TV would most likely come back on or the other way around, see if you can (on the 20/30 minutes window of opportunity) trigger the switching off with the same pushing down on the board. Pls give special attention to the power supply board and the horizontal circuit.

Since you have worked with older models, I'm sure you are aware of the HV section and the necessary safety precautions.

    Cheers.

Red light flashing on charger

A red light indicates the charger is charging the battery, an amber light means it has switched from fast rate charging to trickle to keep the battery topped off, and green would mean the battery is completely charged. But don't be fooled waiting for green, many times the charger will only be on green for a moment before changing to amber and keeping the battery topped off.

Flashing can be a sign of a problem on some chargers.

A rapid flashing red can on some chargers indicate a bad or shorted battery, or a bad battery contact in the charger itself. If in question, try a different battery on the charger or compare with another charger to determine if the blinking is normal.

Best regards.

Photo 1290 Changing ink cartridge

Hi there,

You may have to reset your printer, for when the green an red are flashing. Please do the following in order to reset the printer;
1-switch off printer itself
2-switch off at socket for 20 seconds
3-hold down both black buttons on front
switch on at mains
4-switch on printer itself
green and red flash together
5-now switch off at mains and leave for 3 seconds
6-while holding down both front buttons again, switch on at mains
both green and red flash together so release
7-quickly hold down the left botton, the one with the scroll icon above it.

Hold this until it resets itself, - the print head will re
charge and it will be obvious.

Restting by unpluggin rather than turning off at mains tends not to work.

This must help you as it worked for me.

Why is my 42" dlp tv turns itself off after awhile?

the power supply is not working fine. your tv needs preventive service so that semiconductor, diodes and capacitors are changed on the power supply before it switches off completely on its own.

The red light is blinking and it doesn't print.

There are actually some certain meaning on the red light and green light showing different information to user. The summaries are:
1) Green On, Red Off = Printer Ready.
2) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Fast-Flashing = Printer warm up.
3) Green Fast-Flashing, Red Off = Printer off-line.
4) Green Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Processing Data.
5) Green Off, Red On = Cover Opened, Toner Empty or Developer Unit / Drum unit missing.
6) Green Off, Red Fast-Flashing = Paper Jam or waiting for jam reset.
7) Green Off, Red Slow-Flashing = Paper Empty or Paper tray is not inserted.
8) Green Off, Red Off = Printer power is off.
9) Green Very-Slow-Flashing, Red Off = Printer in sleep mode.
10) Green (any condition above), Red Slow-Flashing = Toner low or paper empty.

So what is your printer condition? Better know what is going on your printer so can solve the problem.
