I think this is a case of the protection module kicking in due to a defect in the soldering or one of the components..Difficult to say without actually testing the real thing... Best bet would be to get a serviceman to take a look at it. Or else just chuck it away and buy a new piece..Cost of repairs would be almost the same anyways..

I would have a service person look at it. it sounds like an overheating problem to me and that could cause a lot of larger problems.

Baased on your post that the unit operates "for 20/30 mins before switching off again" one can presume that there is no component defect. What is probable is a loose connection, a cold solder or a heat related issue. Having said these, then diagnosis would involve checking the high current or power components such as resistors, regulators, the HOT, the FBT and perhaps what is only needed is either making sure all the plug in connectors are seated right or doing a re-solder of their joints. Of course this would require a basic familiarity with electronic components and circuitry, perhaps the use of a DVM and definitely the use of a soldering iron. A copy of the service manual with schematic diagram and voltage reading may help. Further, this calls for experience in working with high voltages during live test with the back cover off. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY (do-it-yourself), then the services of a qualified professional might be in order.
