Question about Linksys PAP2T

The linksys pap2 adapter for VOIP is not working....the internet light is on and green, but the power light is orange/red and flashing and there is no dial tone in the handset...need help please all the connections are correct and i have checked them several times and yes the internet is working fine on my computer

    yes am using adsl internet, so the connection is computer and linksys both connected to a modem router...so what do you think is the problem why is my linksys adapter not working all of a sudden??

    so are you saying that everything was working fine and one morning the power adapter is busted !!!!! what am i suppose to do now??? where can i get one?? besides how to explain that the internet light is green and the power light is flashing doens't that mean there is power????

    i appreciate your help but it's realy simple everything was working fine and in the morning the adapter had a green internet light but the power light is orange/red and flashing and no ring tone in hte phone..i've checked all the connections and they are all ok, nothing wrong..so what happened and how do i fix it..please give me simple and easy to follow steps to solve this problem. thanks again

You need to configure it to this IP address 192.168.5.1 and configure manual with phone with #* to configure via analog.

    Connect your phone to the Line 1 jack and dial ***** (Four asterisk) and then dial again 110#


    You will received the IP address on your device.

    If not before you are using it working fine, try to run the SYSTEM RESTORE, go to START MENU>ACCESSORIES>SYSTEM TOOLS>SYSTEM RESTORE and choose the date you believe your SYSLINKS PAP2 is working fine to bring back the old configuration. If other dates if needed.

Welcome to Fixya. Please check if the phone is connected to phone 1. I've provided a link for the manual of Linksys Pap2 on how to resolved the issue about no dial tone. You can refer to page 13. It also includes the basic setup of the router. I would like to know the make and the model of your router incase we need to setup the port forwarding on your router. The Internet Service Provider and would like to know id this is the first time you will set this one up. If not then what are the changes before it happens.

    The power light should be green. Cna you verify if the powerlight is amber

    Hi,

    I was able to gather enough information about your problem and here's the step to check the Pap2

    The green per light will give you a clue, based on how it is blinking, per below:

    When you turn on the Pap2 the lights will indicate the what is happening on your PAP2 device

    Power 1 Blink (blink, pause, repeat) PAP2 is powering up
    Power 2 Blinks (blink, blink, pause, repeat) PAP2 is obtaining an IP address
    Power 3 Blinks (blink, blink, blink, pause, repeat PAP2 is obtaining configuration
    Power 4 Blinks (blink, blink, blink, blink, pause, repeat) PAP2 is registering
    Power Lights up red PAP2 has failed self-test or is malfunctioning

    Unfortunately a Constant Red/Orange - bad ethernet hardware port, RMA unit, Red on = POST failure or device malfunction.

    RMA means that you need to send the device for replacement if still has a warranty.

    The red light in and indicator that the device is not working anymore same with other linksys device if rebooting wont fix it so it means that i needs to be replaced.

    Rami - Like i told you if the conenctions are fine and the light start to blink red it means that it is faulty you can try linksys website to see the information. The light should always bbe green my information above will state you the information about the power light. No matter what settings you will configure on the Pap2 if the power light stays amber then there's no way it will be fixed but to replace the unit

Kindly let me know the types of connections and media which you are using. As of now I can understand that the line is coming from your provider and connected to an adsl modem and your computer is directly connected to that adsl modem and remaining computers are connected via rj 45 which is connected through linksys which in turn is connected to adsl modem. Knowing the complete layout is necessary for pinpointing the fault and troubleshooting.

    as per your description the problem is definetly with the power adapter of the linksys pap2 in first view but to make sure you can try change the power adaptor of your linksys and also let me know whatever is written on that adapter.

    There is no issues with the adaptor.

    Sorry, there was a server failure of ISP provider. In case you are working with another expert kindly follow his guidance or else kindly let me know which of the following is your error


    Slow Blinking (0.5s On, 0.5s Off - continuous) - This patter could indicate that the system is booting up or initializing and could be as long as 10 seconds. Or it is looking for DHCP. (Or possibly that Firmware is downloading)

    Link Error (long, short, short, Off for 2 seconds) - This pattern indicates that No Ethernet link is detected.

    Error 2 (short, short, long, long, off for 2 seconds) - This could indicate a duplicate IP is detected.

    Fast Blinking (0.1s On, 0.1s Off - continuous) - Indicates it is writing the firmware to flash.

    Error 1 (short, short, long, off for 2 seconds) - Device is using the back up IP address or the last known good IP address.

    SOS (short 3 times, 2 longs, short 3 times off for 2 seconds) - This could indicate the firmware is in recovery mode.

I am using a Panasonic DECT 6.0 Series cordless phone. However, the VIATalk.com VOIP Services uses a LinkSys PAP2 adapter which can work with any type of phone. A Broadband connection is required to use the VIATalk.com VOIP service. Setup is very simple and the instructions areeasy to follow. Just a few simple things to do.

Connect my phone adapter


You need to register/subscribe to a VOIP provider first like Vonage and the likes. Then you need to register through your VOIP provider the phone ports of your router. ISP is different from VOIP.

If your planning to connect the phone adapter behind a router make sure that the following ports are open/forwarded on the router; UDP ports 5060-5061, UDP ports 16384-32767 take note that 5060 and 5051 one are SIP ports and must be assigned to the IP address of that was assigned to by the router to the adapter or the IP that was manually configured on it.

I have a linksys PAP2-NA VoIP adapter. I want to lend to my customers but want to lock the access to admin so they cannot see my settings


Hi rajahc,

That's easy (as long as your voip provider didn't locked it themselves), just log-in to your PAP2's setup page and set the user and or admin password under the system tab. Hope this helps

Not able to connect my voip adapter to internet


hello sir iam working for voip and iam a tech?
and u r using linksys pap2 which is not a router its just a phone adapter so it will work through a router so try this first
is ur modem is a modem router and u have 4 ether net port on it and u can able to access inter net through hard wired and connect this pap 2 adapter through one of the ether net jack on the modem router (ut starcom)>an dit has a fire wall which block ur voice signals so u need to open some ports on it try this link to open all ports and u need to try this with a pc which connected through hard wired on the modem router go to through this link

and also disable the fire wall on the router screen and reboot the linksys pap2 and ur ut star com modem router also and connect ur phone directly to phone jack 1 on the pap 2 device if u have any issues let me know
