Carburetor leaking gas

PROBABLY YOUR CARBURETOR FLOAT INSIDE THE CARBURETOR IS NOT WORKING DUE TO MALFUNCTION OR DUE TO SOME DUST SETTLED IN THE FLOAT PIN THAT BLOCKS THE FUEL ONCE THE CARB IS FULL. IF U ARE TECHNICAL THEN FIRST CLOSE THE FUEL TAP, PULL THE FUEL PIPE FROM THE FUEL TAP SIDE CAREFULLY AND TRY TO INJECT CARBURETTOR CLEANER IN THE FUEL PIPE AFTER FEW MINUTES TO HAVE SPACE INSIDE THE CARB FOR CLEANER TO TAKE ITS PLACE. THEN CONNECT THE PIPE OPEN THE FUEL TAP AND CHECK THE LEAKS. OF ALL OK TRY TO RUN THE ENGINE IT MAY STOP OR THE RPM COULD VARY DUE TO CLEANER. DONT WORRY IT WILL BE OK IN FEW NIMUTES.
SINCE IT IS HIGHLY RISKY AND FUEL COULD IGNITE . EVEN IF U ARE TECHNICAL YOU SHOULD TAKE PRECAUTIONS OF FIRE THAT COULD BE IGNITED BY SPARK PLUG WIRE.
YOUR GENERATOR SHOULD BE 10 TO 20 FEET AWAY FROM RESIDENTIAL AREA OR CAR ETC AND KEEP HANDY A FIRE ESTINGUISHER. OR SIMPLY TAKE TO TO YOUR CAR MECHANIC WHO SHOULD DO THE JOB WELL.

Does the gas tank need to be high on the motor or can it **** from a lower source?

Your water pump is gravity feed type, however you can add a vacuum/pressure pulse type pump. Look here : http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/4/22/423/22375/ITEM/Mikuni-Pulse-Fuel-Pump.aspx

This is just an example, there are many styles and capacities of pulse pump. Look on ebay. You will need to be creative and find an way to tap into the crankcase system. Some engines that use pulse pump will get vacuum / pressure from the valve cover area. The pump works with the natural pressure / vacuum created in the crankcase by piston movement. Good luck

I have a Coleman generator 1850 pulse and it runs ok for a little

Gravity feed fuel systems are the most simple and reliable way to deliver fuel to the engine, however suffer from a couple of problems.. As the engine heats up fuel tends to be pushed out of the carb back into the fuel tank and if the vent in the gas cap is not working properly fuel lock (or a slight vacuum in the tank) will prevent fuel from entering the carb. There should be a plastic block or manafold seperating the carb from the engine to keep the carb from overheating. Some engines have this block bolted to the engine, then the carb bolted to block., others have two bolts thru the carb and block to engine. In ether case make sure parts are held tightly together so no vacuum leaks thru gaskets.. One should make sure that the gas cap is venting. Sometimes fuel sloshing in the tank will clog the vent-hole in the cap. Try running the generator with the cap loose to see if this helps.. Replace fuel cap as needed if vent is clogged. Good luck with your generator.

The seal is bad so get the model number off the engine and the manufactures name as well. You did not state the name of the manufacturer of the engine so I can not reaaly tell you were to go to. Coleman does not produce engins. It can be a Tecumseh or a Briggs & Straton or ?? The yellow pages will list this under lawn and garden equipment or go on the web

I have a Coleman Powermate Pulse 1850 Generator.

Hi,
If the generator hasn't been used for awhile the rotor may have lost it's magnetism. All you need is to re-excite it. There are several websites that explain how to do this. It's a good place to start.

Generator will not start

You say there is compression .What was the p.s.i. on the gauge. If below 100 p.s.i.. May have bad ring, valve out of adjustment or bad head gasket. Is there spark and what does spark plug look good, is gap ok . Is the fuel tuned on and kill switch on. Will need more info to help out more.
