On this family of calculators, you do as follows
Enter the first number (degrees), ex:15
Press [2nd][APPS] (ANGLE) to access the Angle functions
Select [1: degree symbol] [ENTER]
Main screen shows 15 deg
Enter the minutes, ex 25
Press [2nd] [APPS](ANGLE) to access Angle functions
Select [2:' apostrophe] [ENTER]
Screen echoes 15 deg 25'
Enter the seconds number, ex 32
Press [2nd][+] (") to access the double quotation mark
Screen echoes 15 deg 25' 32"
Press [ENTER]
Calculator converts this in decimal degrees 15.42555556

To convert this back to DMS, press [ANGLE][|=>DMS][ENTER] and the calculator displays the original value 15 deg 25' 32"

### I know how to convert between decimal degress and degrees, minutes, seconds, but how do you enter degrees, minutes, and seconds directly?

Enter it as DD.MMSS and then press 2nd [DMS-DD] to convert it to decimal for further calculations.

For example, to enter 21 degrees 34 minutes 45 seconds, enter 21.3445 then press 2nd [DMS-DD].

### I can't figure out how to use the degree, minutes, and seconds button to get to a decimal number.

Enter the number of degrees, press DMS, enter the number of minutes, press DMS, enter the number of seconds, press DMS. Press S--D. If you get a fraction, press S--D again.

DMS is the degrees-minutes-seconds button located above the ENG button, S--D is the symbolic--decimal button located above the DEL button.

The DMS symbols are available under the ANGLE menu
Press [2nd][APPS] (ANGLE)
Under that menu you find the degree and minute symbol. To enter the seconds unit you use the key sequence [ALPHA][+] (")
To enter 1deg 15 minutes and 37 seconds

To enter a number in decimal degrees (eg 15.37)
1. If angle unit is the degree just enter 15.37

Sorry to say it but the DMS key is to convert between Degrees, minutes, seconds and decimal degrees (angle units). This cleared here is how to use the DMS key on this calculator.

Label of key [deg symbol ' "]. It is between [(-)] and [hyp]

To enter a value in decimal degrees
12.58 [deg ' "] [=] Screen displays 12.58 deg on top line and 12 deg 34' 48" on bottom line.
Pressing the [deg ' "] key while this value is displayed will show 12.58

To enter a DMS value:

Press the [deg ' "] key after each number even if one of the numbers D,M,S is nill (0).
Exemple Enter 25 deg 0 ' 48"
25 [deg ' "] 0 [deg ' "] 48 [deg ' "] [=]
Screen displays 25 deg 0' 48" on bottom line
Pressing the [deg ' "] key converts this result to decimal degrees 25.013

### Convert degrees and minutes to decimal degrees

Hello,
In the main menu screen press the Action menu, then Transformation submenu. At the bottom of the drop down list you have dms an toDMS.
If you enter toDMS(18.58) you get dms(18,34,48). Then if you use dms( on the calculated result: dms(ans) you get 18.58
So if you have a result in deg, min, sec you convert it to decimal degrees by making use of the dms( command.
