Question about HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

HP OfficeJet 8500 ADF detects load, but does not detect feed. I have a brand new HP OfficeJet 8500. The ADF detects a document is loaded when I stick a piece of paper in it to be copied/scanned/faxed, but when I start the copy, it feeds the paper through but does not detect that it has grabbed the paper. It says to "reload the document" and the copy/scan/fax operation is cancelled. Does anyone know if there is a sensor that detects the paper has been fed (not loaded), that might need a clean or something?

Remember that if you start to fiddle you void your guarantee, I know its a pain, but if I were you repack and either contact customer services and obtain a return invoice number if purchased over the internet and return to sellers. If purchased from a shop, return with your prove of purchase.

Sounds to me like you need to clean the ADF feed rollers. You can use a rubber cleaner or HP recommends using water.

My HP Officejet Pro L7780 faxes off & on. Motor is running w/in ADF, but the pick assembly does not grab paper

There should be a textured seperator pad, if that's worn out, replace it. Also check the ADF rollers should not be smooth. You may need to just replaced the ADF maintenance kit. It should include the roller assembly and seperator pad.

I have canon 320 MX, and I recived all the time a messege - document in the ADF, I press OK , then I recive a second messege - close the feeder cover and eject the document.NO documents are in the printer...

Hi!
look more closely on the ADF section, if there is no paper remains then you must need to check if the paper feed sensor is not press down or stuck. This sensor, a small plastic latch slide is responsible for detecting load paper in the ADF section. Check if there is something that keeping it stuck in that position. You will need to open the cover of the ADF section to do this.

Hope it works.

How to fax

Load an original in the automatic document feeder (ADF)
You can copy, scan, or fax a single or multiple-page A4, letter, or legal-size document by
placing it in the document feeder tray.
The document feeder tray holds a maximum of 20 sheets of letter or A4-size paper or 15
sheets of legal-size paper.
To send a basic fax from the control panel
1.
Load your originals. For additional information, see Load originals.
2. Enter the fax number by using the keypad, press Speed Dial or a one-touch speed
dial button to select a speed dial, or press Redial/Pause to redial the last number
dialed.
TIP: To add a pause in the fax number you are entering, press Redial/Pause,
or press the Symbols (*) button repeatedly, until a dash (-) appears on the display.
3. Press START FAX Black.
If the device detects an original loaded in the automatic document feeder, it
sends the document to the number you entered.
TIP: If the recipient reports issues with the quality of the fax you sent, you can
try changing the resolution or contrast of your fax.

The adf doesn't work. I have tried taking the rollers out and reinstalling, but the rollers still don't drop. I

there is a lever-like device that is deflected when paper is inserted into the feeder. It interacts with an optical device to detect the paper.
The feeder mechanism cover should hinge to the left. The latches tend to be stiff so don't be afraid to apply some pressure. Look for the lever on either the cover or the bottom surface of the feeder. It should hinge easily with light pressure.
Sometimes the lever gets unhinged. There is a plastic sensor that moves back when the paper is loaded in the ADF.

the lever (plastic sensor) has a "flag" on it that interrupts an invisible light (infrared) beam in the optical sensor (optical device). The sensor is typically a small black device with slot in it. The flag moves through the slot without any physical contact. The sensor will not be visible without removing a cover of some sort.

there could be mechanical damage or misalignment. The failure could be one of the following:
1. The optical sensor is defective.
2. Since various sub assemblies in the printer are interconnected using cables, there may be a cable plug thats not mated securely with it's corresponding socket.
3. A component on the main electronics board has failed.

there are many other users facing the same exact problem with ADF not loading document and its not getting detected on front panel.

HP7310 ADF will not load paper

When you say you have cleaned the part have you taken the ADF and opened it and cleaned the rollers and seperator pad? Document with parts labelled is here;

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00222165&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&rule=22243&product=391182

If you have done that and still no feeding then you may need a new adf. You can call hp but the easier way is to order it through the HP Part Surfer - the part number you need is Q3462-60276 and it costs $25.65 according to the site at the moment.

HP Office Jet 7310

chances are the feeder isnt feeding the paper at all, thats why you cant scan a single paper, try opening up the ADF and clean the feed rollers first, turn off the machine and gently rub the rollers again and again until you have a clean shot or surface, try this from thop to bottom rollers, please make sure though to insert uncreased paper and paper without eardogs on its leading edge, this could cause some delay upon feeding process

sometimes because it is exposed to dust, there is a tendency for the rolllers to slip, or you could be having a broken part that drives the feed rollers from your ADF.

HP Office Jet 6110 All in One faxing

This document covers the basic fax functions of the HP Officejet 6100 series. The HP Officejet 6100 series can perform the following functions:
  • Send and receive paper faxes.
  • Send and receive color faxes. Color faxes can be sent only to color fax capable machines. If a color fax is sent to a black-and-white only fax machine, the HP Officejet sends the fax in black and white.

  3. Press Start Fax Black or Color.
  4. If there is no original in the ADF, the display will read, "Send from Glass? Press 1 for Yes or 2 for No"
    • Press 1 to scan the document from the glass.
