Unit will not work at all now on remote control. Operating power switch on unit takes it through a series of numbers.

  • susiec65 Aug 02, 2008

The remote just takes the unit dispaly through a series of different numbers and letters eg 11, 22, 33 44, 88 FA and FF. The unit will blow on some of these numbers nut dispaly has no relatioship to remote command.

Do not allow the signal receiver window to receive strong direct sunlight, since it can adversely affect its operation. If the signal receiver window is exposed to direct sunlight, close a curtain to block the light.

Using a Fluorescent lamp with a quick starter in the same room may interfere with transmissions of the signal.

The unit can be affected by signals transmitted from the remote control of a television vcr or other equipment used in the same room so make sure if anything recently added to the room is un plugged for testing purposes.

Do no leave the remote control in direct sunlight or near a heater also protect the unit and remote control from moisture and shot which can disclour or damage them.

Check whether the remote control batteries have become old and weak. (replace with new ones)

Try to send the signal again with the remote control pointed properly towards the units signal receiver window

Check whether the remote control batteries are installed with the polarites properly aligned

This could also be a result of the error locking out the remote as well so keep this in mind.

Also if possible unplug it and let it sit for atleast a day then plug it into a different outlet (if possible) to see if there is any change in the units functionality.

After that I would have to say check the area around the base of it and make sure that there is no moisture damage to the unit.

A good cleaning could be in order as well.

then if all else fails and the error presists contact customer service with the issue of the machine they will know what the error codes are.

hope that helps let us know how you make out.

The manual says to clean filter and unplugunit, plug unit back in and code will be reset. In my case the unit would run 5minutes and code would return. I exchanged my unit for another and after twomonths the second did the same thing. When I went to sharp's web site Idownloaded the product manual http://www.sharpusa.com/files/air_man and ON THE FIRST PAGE werenew procedures for resetting the error code. Unplug unit, clean filter, HOLDDOWN power button and CONTINUE HOLDING while plugging unit back in. Unit willbeep. Unplug again, plug back in and resume normal operation. I'm just happy itnow works. The size Vs. power ratio of this small but powerful unit is fantastic. It is tiny enough to fit into narrow windows but has 12000 BTU rating. This iswhy I bought it in the first place.

Hope this may help;

Hi have you tried this steps already?

1. Unplug the unit for 5 seconds 2. Hold the power button in until the unit beeps (not clear if this is with the power plug out or after plugging back in) 3. Pull the plug and reconnect a second time. (not sure if you're supposed to be holding the power button in) He continues with additional instructions provided if that doesn't work: 1. Pull the power cord. 2. Hold the MODE button while plugging the unit back in, but do not let go of MODE 3. The unit will beep and start to operate 4. Let go of MODE and depress the Power button to turn it off 5. Press power to turn back on I think that the first procedure sounds a whole lot like the one I used. 1. Pull the power 2. Hold the power button in for the next bunch of steps - don't let go! 3. Plug the unit back in, it will start, stop, and beep 4. Pull the plug out, don't let go of power 5. Plug the unit back in, it will start, stop and beep 6. Pull the plug out. Let go of power button. 7. Plug the unit back in and power it up. Set controls to your liking.

pls keep us posted. thanks!

    Hi-

If that reset didn't actually work, chances are there is a hardware problem with the unit. You can contact your manufacture at 800-Be Sharp for replacement if its under warranty or you can call your dealer for it.

Hello susiec65,

This may be a filter cleaning reminder that Sharp has included in all of thier modern air units. Try this to resolve the issue.

1. Power down the air conditioner using the "power" button on the front
panel.
2. Unplug the air conditioner from the wall socket.
3. Hold the front panel "power" button down and plug the air
conditioner in. Continue to hold the power button down as the machine
goes through a brief test sequence (fan & compressor each come on
briefly, etc). There is a "beep" sound at the end of the test sequence,
and the machine will be off. At this point, you can release the power
button.
4. Unplug the air conditioner.
5. Plug the air conditioner back in.
6. Congratulations! You should now be able to operate the air
conditioner normally for another 720 hours, but only if you followed
the instructions above EXACTLY.

If you doubt the veracity of this information, or it does not work as
expected, you can get it directly from the source at:

1-800-237-4277

which is the Sharp customer service line. But, you'll need to call
between 7 AM and 7 PM US Central time, and have your model number and
serial number ready.

I hope this helps you. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa!!

Problem:
The unit tries to start for a few seconds and then quits

answer:
Every air conditioner has a motor called a compressor. The compressor provides the cooling capacity for the air conditioner. If the compressor or its electrical controls are defective the compressor may try to start, fail, and create an electrical overload. If the unit does create an overload, every compressor circuit is also equipped with an overload safety switch. The safety switch is designed to protect the compressor from burning out. The safety switch will cut the power to the compressor for a certain length of time and then reset itself. When it resets it will allow the electricity to flow to the compressor once again. If the compressor then starts, the unit should function normally. If the compressor doesn't start when the overload resets, the overload will again cut the electricity to the compressor. This cycle will continue indefinitely. (Always allow three to five minutes before restarting the compressor.) If this situation is occurring, unplug the air conditioner and get help from a qualified repair technician. This problem is often fatal to the air conditioner because the cost of repair often exceeds the price of a new air conditioner.

I have an lg split system airconditioner. The unit starts up fine and runs for a few minutes. After a few minutes it trips the circuit breaker. Could you tell me what causes this? Thank you

Sounds like an electrical problem.. or the compressor is beginning to fail. Check the wiring connections on top of the compressor for burning etc ... If OK, the compressor may be shorted out.
Make sure the power has been switched OFF before any testing is done.. Usually an LG will show a fault code on the display on the internal unit but a dead short on the comp will happen to fast for this to occur. One way to isolate a compressor fault is to disconnect it.. If the unit runs ( fans etc) with the comp disconnected and does not trip the breaker , then you have narrowed down what the fault is.

Greeting, I have problem with SAMSUNG air condicioner inverter. The display shows me an error E1 A1 and does not include the external unit, please help what is the problem.

E-1 Room sensor and A1 Indoor PCB fault. Please you replace first, indoor sensor and reset.Sometimes indoor pcb shows fault code due to sensor short. After replacing sensor it will show only A! or sometimes no error. If it shows A1, you have to repair/replace PCB. Helpful?

Air condit. runs for ten minutes , shuts off and displays E1

You should first look in the instruction/operation manual usually in the back pages for trouble shooting or code faults (errors). There should be a list of faults such as E1, E2, E33, E44 etc. and an explanation of each code. If you cannot find this info, call the manufacture ; they will tell you exactly what the E1 fault code stands for and possibly what will correct it. Ask for technical support. The fact that it runs for 10 minutes and stops; if you unplug it or turn the control to off, will it start again when you reenergize it ? This could indicate low voltage from the electric source. Are you running it with an extention cord or is the electric circuit line a very long run and robbing power before it gets to the unit? Have you checked the filter so that it is clean enough for good air flow, otherwise the unit will detect the low air movement from a dirty filter and shut itself down.

Sharp split system, cutting out

If this is running in A/C mode, then I bet you have a low refrigerant charge. The compressor is dropping out on low suction pressure if it's cutting in and out every 5-10 minutes or so. If it takes hours, then it's likely a different problem.

Reply back and I can help you (been in that business for over 30 years.).
