Try to copy the dvd-es on the hard disk before playing ...and this way you will see if it is a reading issue or just the application software you use is not capable to read them anymore..(it may have been an trial or it is out of date ) .. My advice is to install a another program ..and try again ..if the dvd-ea are not read well from the hdd.. try VLC player (it free) ..or ..another dvd player on the net ...
What comes to mind is that you are burning to an image file and not your actual burner. Make a small data DVD and name it something obvious such as aaaa. After completion of the disk, do a search for the file and see if it is in actuality on the computer. If it is stored as an image file, you need to select the recorder type to your actual burner.
i just found out the problem.
I have nero 7 installed on vista. To fix the vista movie maker crash when rendering, I just renamed this folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter
Renamed DSFilter to something else. VMM no longer crashes and when I want to use Nero again, just rename DSFilter back to normal.
