Cmos settings for acer aspire m5641

to reset the cmos you only need to take the small round battery off the board for a few minutes. if your laptop is not keeping time then you need a new battery on the board. ( you will find you cant get on websites when your laptop has the wrong time on as its a security risk ) to enter the bios ( which i would not if i didnt know what i was doing ) turn off laptop/press power button to turn it on/keep pressing F2 while its booting up ..but be careful in there

I can't remember my password??

If you have forgot the BIOS password of your desktop computer, then you need a simple way to change your BIOS password. Its not that difficult because you just need a simple trick to reset your BIOS password.

* Shutdown your desktop computer and switch off the power to the CPU
* Open your CPU cabinet
* Find a circular, (mostly) silver metallic object on the motherboard. This is the CMOS battery
* Carefully remove the CMOS battery and leave it out for about 120 seconds. This will flush the CMOS memory which stores the BIOS password and all other configuration.

* Set the battery back into place and power on the computer.
* The computer should then warn you that the CMOS configuration could not be found. You can either reconfigure it yourself or restore defaults. Restoring the default configuration should be fine.
* You will notice that the BIOS password has been cleared and you can boot without it.

Note : Once you remove your battery from the mother board, you will find that all your time settings in your computer would be lost, and some softwares may stop working which are based on your computer time.

Good Luck...

How to reset bios password on e machines e627

I just got done resetting the password on the emachines e627. I ended up dissassembling the unit, desoldering the cmos battery from the motherboard, soldering it back on, and reassembling. It booted to windows after this. Repair time: 2 hours. It is a little difficult since I didn't have the repair manuals. The emachine connectors for the keyboard, touchpad, and wireless are fragile at best. After doing it once, I could do it again in 30 minutes.

Keyboard and VGA port does not work,i think it's a motherboard

i think your board is dead you must wait 15 seconds to reboot your pc or you will over surge it with power my buddy did it to mine and blew up my graphics card your board might be dead but does it make a clicking sound when you try to start it or any beeps if not your board is dead you could try to clear the cmos just take out the round watch battry on the board for about 5 min and then put it back in and start it up but theree should be a jumper you can use to clear the cmos cmos is your pc's boot options you know when you hold the delete button and shows your boot options it will reset itself try that if nothing works your board is dead

ThinkPad 600 System Board error

Have you tried using the reset jumper on the motherboard? I had a PC a few months ago that I had to replace the battery in. I eventually had to use the clear CMOS jumper and the reset BIOS jumper to get the computer to load to BIOS normally. Remember, if you don't have to correct the date and time, then the BIOS has not been reset. Sometimes it is a good idea to leave the PC off and unplugged for about 10-15 minutes to let the capacitors drain down. By doing this after reseting the PC, it gives you a clean cold boot (meaning there is nothing stored and nothing has had power before a reboot).

Computer won't boot up after attempting to install new memory

I believe resetting the CMOS would fix this problem. To reset the CMOS, open up the computer and locate a battery similar to this one (it's on the motherboard):

Picture

Once you find it, pull it out. Leave it out for about 24 hours (one day) afterward placing the battery back into its slot on the motherboard. Now try booting up.

It should now successfully start up requesting that you make changes to the BIOS since the CMOS was just reset. Afterward you should be able to use the computer normally.

NOTE: Try resetting the CMOS with the original RAM inside the computer. The new RAM might be forcing the motherboard to send too much voltage or use an incompatible Mhz setting to support the new stick of RAM.

Let me know how it turns out and if I can do anything else to assist you.

My PC does not boot when I press the power button on. The power comes alright but it will not boot and load files unless I leave it on for a long time and later reboot it again. This has been the problem...

You need to clear cmos usually on board is a little coloured jumper, but also first disconnect power plugs from board which come from the big psu, normally have a little clip you have to squeeze, find cmos normally 3 pins with a littl jumper move it from one set of pins to next set of 2 pins, you normally have i pin exposed,so move left or right and hold for 10 seconds make sur e you put back as it was, reconnect psu plugs ,reboot enter the bios normally Delete button or what it says on your screen normally setup button ,reset your time and date and make sure you save your settings before you leave bios page

Hang-ups durring bios screen and hangs at certain times.

hallo, i'm Fernando Kendy from Jakarta, Indonesia

hope i can help with this problem

the mainboard has onboard graphic adapter (S3 bla bla bla)
try using it. unplug your nvidia FX5500

how is it? does it work?
if it still not working, then STOP here. something is wrong with your mainboard

if it is working, then goto BIOS configuration
change the PROCESSOR frequency to 100 MHz (MANUAL) and the RAM frequency to 400MHz
save the configuration, and shut it down immediatelly
plug the nvidia FX5500 back, and turn your pc on...

it should be working fine now
but if you still have problem, then i'm sorry... couldn't help you any further... :)

Boot Problem with biostar 945 GZ SE Micro Socket 775

you may have a short somewhere, maybe against the pc case or a cmos chip fault. You could have stressed the board when fitting the tv card, or the motherboard was simply faulty at purchase. You will have to reset the bios by the shorting terminals (refer to manual) as removing the battery alone does not always reset the bios.
