Take a flashlight and shine it on the screen when there is no picture but has sound. If you can see a faint picture the board controlling the backlights is failing. If there is no faint picture then the T-Con board is bad. TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy You can get parts here.

I have no video ihave audio, the screen stay black

Hi Doug,
Please try a flash light on the screen. If you can see a faint picture, the fault is with the backlights. In samsung LCD TVs it is the bad inverter board which is often found responsible for this fault.
Good Luck.

Dim the lights in the room, turn on the set and shine a bright flash light on the screen. Do you see a faint picture on the screen?

Hazy picture

This is listed in the standard TV area which means set has a picture tube and is not a lcd or plasma.

That being said try a rear audio and video input first to see if same issue or not.

Try to lower contrast and brightness (contrast on some sets is called picture) to see if that helps.

Lastly shoot me a model and brand.

No picture

Look with the set on in a very, very dark room and use a flashlight to light the screen.

If you see a very faint image of the picture the back light in the set is not on or bad---most LCD sets use a back light to provide the source for brightness on the screen.

AUDIO NO PICTURE

No picture is your problem? No model number but a suggestion if a LCD set---in a very dark room look at the screen with a flashlight--see a faint image of any sort there?

Lg 42lg50 LCD tv has audio but no picture

The backlight is out most likely caused by either the T conn or the Invertor. The invertor is most likely you can get replacement boards from www.tvcircuitboards.com leave a email if your not sure what you need.

Hi, if you have audio and any kind of a blank/darkened screen then you either have a bad video hookup cable, defective video input, or a bad backlight system-bulb or power supply to bulb is probably weak from symptom you described. Hope this was of some help-if you can find a You tube of someone adjusting brightness you may be able to blindly hit right buttons to turn down brightness then turn set off then turn back on with a picture again-it's actually not impossible to do, I know because have actually done it once. Good luck, prodzilla

TV quits after a few minutes-get a blue screen, no picture and no audio

My best recommendation is to pull the back off it and blow the dust out. Dust is electrostatically attraced to the components inside and acts like a blanket. This causes overheating. Remember to leave your tv unplugged for at least an hour before taking the back off as the CRT (picture tube) will store a charge which can kill you.
