Yes you can. cut the left speaker lead and splice a wire from it to your sub woofer. If its a powered woofer you may have too much gain going in, You don't say what kind of sub it is or weather or not its a "powered" unit. If its a powered woofer (built in amp) you should take the output directly from the computer output (buy a 1/8 in male to 2 1/8 in female connector, send one output to your original speakers and the left side of the second output to the sub woofer. you can usually adjust the level of the sub (if powered) with a control on the unit. if you need more help, contact me but please tell me more about what you have.

SOURCE: The speakers all work in unison when hooked up to

Good day sir, hi, If your subwoofer doesnt work on your PC, check to see if the sound setup is on 6 channel, I don't know what sound card you are using and what OS.

I will assume XP and Realtek:
on the the lower right, you will see the sound manager Icon, the orange speaker, double click the icon to load the Sound manager, goto audio I/O and enable 6 channel speaker.

You can also enable 6 channel on the control panel, goto sound and audio devices, then goto Audio, on the default device go to advance, on speaker setup click 5.1 surround sound, thats it. Make sure that your sound card, is in good shape.

Let me know your progress.

Phone jack on woofer goes into computer tower (should be color coded green) and power cable on woofer plugs into 120VAC. Speaker phone jack plugs into back of woofer. The speaker cable has an on-off switch and volume control as well as a phone jack for your headset.

Your "line in" from speakers should be plugged into the green (output) port on the back of your tower or the headphone jack on laptop. You will need to hook the 9 pin connector from the right speaker to the subwoofer. The yellow line from left speaker plugs into port labled "subwoofer" on subwoofer. Plug your power cord from speaker system into an outlet. Turn them on, adjust volume. There is no software for this product.

I just purchased the 2.1 powered speaker package (with subwoofer) from Insignia. I hooked up the speakers and subwoofer but only one of the speakers is working. I can't get any sound from the other one.

Verify the cables are hooked up correctly if one speaker works and the other one doesn't, usually that means a cable is not plugged in in the right spot or not in all the way. Also make sure if there is a balance knob that it is in the center.

Are you using the Creative speaker test program? It usually has a picture of a generic layout of a pc system, with the speakers around it, showing a speaker for each that you should have plugged in. There should be a test button that will play a sound through each speaker. If a sound plays from your center speaker when the subwoofer picture is lit up then you may have a cord plugged in incorrectly on either the subwoofer or on the back of the soundcard. I've ran into this many times.
The best way to set up surround sound is to get your speakers placed or mounted on the wall, then run one wire at a time into the subwoofer, to ensure that the front left is hooked into the subwoofer in the front left, front right into front right, etc. Then once the speakers are hooked into the subwoofer start running the outputs from the subwooofer one at a time into the sound card. After each connection run the test program and watch the pictures light up as the sound plays, and make sure that the speaker playing sound in your place is the same speaker that is lit up on the test program.
I hope that helps, otherwise the amp is probably bad. Let me know if you need more help.

Can i hook a sub woofer up to m-audio av40s

odwalxo, you can't add a subwoofer because the only output you have on those m audio speakers is for the "other speaker of the set via regular speaker wires". Everything else it's just inputs.
