I REPLACED THE TIMER BUT NEW TIMER DOES ADVANCE INTO SPIN/SPRAY. AFTER WASHER FINISHES SPIN /PAUSE SEGMENT IT' WILL ADVANCE INTO SPIN/SPRAY CYCLE [12 MINUTES] WHICH IT DOES BUT WILL STAY ON THAT CYCLE FOREVER, TIMER DOES NOT ADVANCE, IF I MOVE THE TIMER 2/3 INTO THE CYCLE IT WILL EVENTUALLY ADVANCE TO OFF

  • edvogel Mar 19, 2011

I THINK I MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNCLEAR ABOUT THE PROBLEM, INITIALLY WITH THE OLD TIMER IT WOULD STOP AT THE END OF SPIN/PAUSE AND NOT ADVANCE, ITH THE NEW TIMER IT WILL ADVANCE INTO SPIN/SPRAY/RINSING BUT WILL STAY AT INITIAL SPOT UNLESS I ADVANCE TIMER 2/3 OF THE WAY AND EVVENTUALLY WILL ADVANCE. COLD WATER SUPPLY SEEMS ADAQUATE, FILLS WITH GOOD VOLUME. THANKS

FOUND THE REASON THAT THE TIMER WOULD NOT ADVANCE INTO SPIN/SPRAY/RINSING. THE DRAIN SOLENOID [HAS RELAY] THAT OPENS & CLOSED IN THE DRAIN LINE WAS BURNT OUT, NOT ALLOWING THE WASHER TO RECYCLE THE SPRAY/RINSE WATER. PART IS EXPENSIVE SO WILL NOT BE REPLACING IT SOON, ALREADY PUT ON $150.00 TIMER.WILL ADVISE AFTER I INSTALL PART IF DIAGNOSIS IS CORRECT. IF YOU CAN ACCESS SCHMATIC?? YOU CAN SEE THE PROCESS.

Was able to find problem. The drain solenoid in rear of washer which allows water to either recirculate or drain was open electrically. I've order the part and confident it's the solution.but will post the results after I've installed it.

Hi, when the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water.

Kenmore 80 series top load washer. In the permanent press mode the machine will stop when it moves to the rinse mode. I can manually move the time past the midpoint of the cycle it will run for a minute...

So it will spin and drain when put in the spin cycle right? More than likely it is your timer if you have to keep manually setting. I would check on timer prices and go from there.

The washer goes through the whole cycle then for the last 11-12 min it stops and doesn't finish the rinse cycle. it sprays water just like at the begining of the cycle then tries to spin then pauses

With no error code on your FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW I will still give it shot. I believe you are failing in spin cycle. See this Post and the post I link to for a step by step clutch maintenance/repair. If you have more info on the failure or questions post back and we will try to help.

Washing machine does not drain during rinse cycle?

Turn timer to rinse cycle. let fill up and agitate. when it stops agitating it should pause then start to pump water out. After about 2 minutes it should pause for 3-5 seconds then start again and spin. If it starts the first time and never stops it will just continue to pump but no spin. The 3-5 second pause allows the transmission to shift to spin. If it does not do this the problem is your timer. You may need to do this a few times to verify the problem.

If that is not the problem it is likely that you need a new clutch. You will need a technician to install a new clutch for you

Water not draining out w/ spin cycle

sounds like water may be going out but no spin in last cycle lean washer back and ck underneath for oil leak on top off transmission is a silver colored disk shaped object this is part of clutch if there appears to be a lot of oil on it good chance there is oil on clutch also causing it not yo spin..also ck to see if basket spins after short pause at end of rinse cycle ..start a rinse cycle at setting on timer with lid shut allow to run undisturbed ..once agitation stops in rinse timer should stop then start motor back up to drain ..there should be another short pause then washer should start spinning if does not pause suspect suspect timer if it does pause but doesn't start spinning suspect transmission..remember allow washer to advance by itself DO NOT RAISE LID TO CK..a small load of clothes will let you know if washer has spun

Sometimes the spin cycle works and sometimes it doesn't. The water is draining, but sometimes the clothes are still very wet and I have to wring water out of them before I put them in the dryer.

if that is a top load whirpool suspect transmission..the transmission is designed to drain first and then after another timer pause go into spin sometimes after the pause they fail to do so it is a hard problem to verify without a lot of patience..put washer into final rinse allow washer to complete cycle on it's own DO NOT MANUALLY ADVANCE TIMER OR OPEN LID if possible you can raise lid and hold lid switch down.. after agitation there should a short pause then pump out then another pause and spin should engage if you do not here spin raise lid then shut if spin starts change transmission..on rare ocassion have seen timer never pause then change timer if this is only occasional may be hard to spot and may require more than 1 attempt to catch it..good luck

Clothes washing machine

Fist off the unit is operating ok it was designed to only spin after the water is let out. by you opening the lid and closing it you have paused the machine (opening the lid) and started it back up This function is also built in the timer to pause the machine then go into spin.. The timer sounds like it has a dead spot in it. is this the only place in the cycle it does this ???? or does it stick and not advance say in the Agitate portion of the cycle?? there is a small timer motor on the timer that advances it it could be going out l. If you check that out with no luck the part # for the timer is 3954449 is is about $102.00 at www.sears.com it is $109.00 at www.apdepot.com the little drive motor on the timer is not a replaceable part the whole timer will have to be replaced
Hope this Fixes Ya
