We were watching a show and the projector shut off. Does not seem to power on at all. Seemed hot to the touch. Have tried other plugs.

Sounds like the power fuse may have blown, or electronic failure, overtemperature switch/fuse may have gone open circuit.
Are the air vents free of blockages etc.
Is the cover on the lamp and filter tight

Projector shut off

The capacitors on the power supply need to be replaced. When you take apart the projector, and then remove the power supply (it's the section that the power cord goes to) and open it up. Look for the little can capacitors and see if any of them are bulging on top. That is the sign that they've blown. Replace the big ones (about 5) for about $5 in parts. Reassemble and test by turning it on. Search for YouTube video. Pretty easy fix.

This projector, almost since new, turns the lamp on for about 15 seconds and then the lamp shuts off. I have taken it to 6 technicians here in Uruguay, and none of them know anything. If the unit is left...

there is a problem with the power to the front fan from the main board. there are 3 wires going to the fans: one power, one return, and one signal. if the main board reads no signal from the fan's speed, it'll shut down. check the power going to the fans and the signal. you may need to replace the main board.

My Acer PH530 overheats and shuts down after 15 minutes.

Mine does the same. When it was still under warranty I kept sending it in to get it fixed, but Acer never fixed the problem (rather they caused more problems). I sent it in for repairs 4 or 5 times, but eventually the warranty expired (after they told me they would extend it from the dates of the repairs). I haven't found a solution. If you do please let me know. Anyway, I don't recommend this projector to anyone else. AND, I certainly don't recommend Acer's customer service. Their warranty is worthless.

Auto shutdown sharp xg-p25x projector

This would seem to be heat-related as these lamps get hot rather quickly. The first quick and dirty solution - try cleaning the filter which is under a panel on the bottom of the projector. Another fix - be sure the projector is plugged into an image source; i.e. computer or DVD player. Sometimes these units will go into standby mode without a signal. More difficult fix - be sure the fan is runningn. When it shuts down, the fan should keep running until the lamp cools, then it will shut down. If the fan isn't working the temperature build-up with shut the projector off. Replacing the fan may be a job for a tech.

NEC LT260's shutting down

I think I have solved this issue with my LT260K. I too had shut downs after 5 minutes of operation. It roughly followed a replacement of the bulb. I repaired stereos in the 70's and 80's, so I was not going to let the projector get the best of me without a tear down. I cleaned the fan blades, checked their operation. I checked the continuity of the thermostat on top of the bulb bracket, but found no apparent failures. I did find a possible loose connector in the middle of the projector as it seemed loose as I was disassembling the unit (see 1st picture). 7c58d4f.jpgThen I checked for cracked or burned areas on the PCB's. During this I scanned as much of the solder joints as I could. In the 'old' days, the power supply area could get hot and make cold solder joints. I found what appeared to be heat damaged solder joints on the auxiliary power board (Lamp power). This is the one that is back right of the projector opposite the power switch. It is a vertical board that solders into the horizontal bulb power board. I resoldered these and I am up and running. USE CAUTION, I would leave this to a trained professional to repair. This requires major disassembly.18d84c8.jpg

Infocus IN72 Projector. NO POWER OR NOT POWERING UP

This model projector is very sensitive to internal heat. I f by some reason the projector was abruptly powered down without the use of its normal procedure, in other words, unpluging cord from wall while on or power outage in premises, then the heat remains trapped and the sensors overheat and subsequently shuts down the unit. Now, although, once the sensors cool down it should reinstate operation some sensors become permanently damaged due to the extreme heat. In this case without having more facts, i believe it is the cause. I recommend a free check up to your nearest shop, most shops will offer free check ups.
