Accu Check Active showing Trouble E-1

The electronic error code refers to either
  1. your glucose level may be extremely high or a meter or a test strip error has occurred.due to insufficient blood sample on the test strip.
  2. A used test strip was removed and reinserted.
  3. The test strip may be damaged or not properly inserted
Try turning the meter off and on or take the battery out for a few seconds and try testing glucose levels again. In any event, check your meter's manual; if unavailable- you can download an electronic version of the manual from the manufacturer's web site; or some meters you can browse the info from your meter's screen menu.
Other options, replace the battery with a new one or perhaps your meter has met its end-of-life usage.
Be well!

I use an Abbott Precision Xtra glucose / ketone tester, that sound similar to yours. On mine, you do not place a drop of blood ON the strip, you place the end of the strip in the drop of blood. There is a very narrow channel that then sucks up the blood by capillary action, and in the case of my tester, it beeps to acknowledge when it has enough.

On the colored side of my strips you can see the blood rise in the opening. After the beep the symbols change to a countdown while the meter does its work

I hope this will gice you at least one thing to try and observe the results of.

It is possible you had a bad strip. It does not happen often, but it does occur from time to time.

Good luck

The meter says E 5 on it what does this mean ?

Cant remember exactly but i think that is probable blood incorrectly put onto test strip, probably before meter is ready. You have to wait for the little drop of blood to appear on the display.

Optium xceed user manual

Blood put on to test strip too soon, you need to wait a short while after fitting strip before putting blood on for testing. Not sure of exact time but the machines display should change. Hope this helps
