Hotpoint Future fridge freezer - freezer working well but top of the back of the fridge has a large build up of ice ??? And doesn't appear to be keeping the food cold enough

here are lots of things that can cause cooling problems. One of the most common causes of poor cooling in a frost free refrigerator is a defrost system failure. In such a case one or the other compartment may appear to be keeping proper temperature but that too may change in a short period of time. The fridge compartment's temperature rise is usually (but not always) the first to be noticed. Frost" and "Ice"
There is a difference between "frost" (a white, snow-like substance) and "ice" (usually clear and solid). When referring to what is seen during an inspection, please keep this distinction in mind as the possible causes for each are often very different. The Defrost System
Inspecting the (usually rear) wall of the freezer compartment for a frost build up is necessary. (In the case of many GE top freezer models, check the freezer's bottom panel.) If there is a frost coating on it, it is often a sign of excessive frosting beneath it. Sometimes however the evaporator cover panel will actually need to be removed (see the illustration below) before an excessive frost build will visible.
The refrigeration system's evaporator (cooling) coil is usually in the freezer compartment. This evaporator will periodically frost over and have to be defrosted by means of a heating system. When the defrost heating system fails, the frost can accumulate to such a degree that airflow throughout the appliance is hampered. There may be just enough air circulation to cool the freezer section but that will eventually stop too.

Water leaks inside

It's due to wrong temp setting and malfunction of defrost cycling. Keep thermostat setting at 5 degree or little less. And don't keep it in minus,as defrost cycle will take longer time. And also you will get less cooling in fridge compartment and also water leaks.Check drain line hose may freezed. And also freezer tray get blocked due to over frosting around freezer. Defrost manually by unplug your fridge and after defrost all ices, plug again and keep correct temp setting. Thanks.

Coil has an electric defrost heater that is supposed to automatically melt the frost every 8 hours. A defrost timer is probably located back by the compressor compartment or aorund the temperature control inside the fridge. You will see two screws that hold the defrost timer in place and in between the two screws will be a about a 1/2" hole that you can put a flat screwdriver in. there will be a cam that you can only turn one way with the screwdriver, slowly turn it with the screwdriveruntil you hear a click and the compresor will stop. You have now manually turned it into defrost mode. Unplug the fridge and install a clip on ampmeter around one of the power lines (I usually carefully separate the power cord by slitting it-DO NOT **** IT WITH IT PLUGGED IN BE SURE ITS UNPLUGGED) and then measure the amp draw after safely plugging it back in. If you are reading approx.3 to 4 amps the heater is OK and you need a new defrost timer, probably was stuck. If you dont' get 3 or 4 amps draw then you must dissamble the freezer to get at defrost heater and defrost thermostat and check for a burned out heater or open DFT (defrost thermostat). If you have Ice not frost in the freezeer you have a different problem, the drain pan below the coil either has a burned out foil heater or the drain line is plugged with peas, berries, debris etc.

Snows inside freezeer compartment of side by side

You actually have 2 problems here.
One the ice maker shutoff is defective. REPAIR is to replace the ice maker.
Two (snow) is a loose door seal, Outside air entering the freezer.

The freezeer works just fine, but the frige is only about 68 degrees. it is about 100 degrees outside here does affect operation.Frige and freezer have seperate temp adjust.

What is the temperature in the freezer? Anything below 32 degrees freezes water. Make sure condenser coil is clean and that air can flow over it freely. In the back behind a removable panel you will find the condenser. Clean it completely and make sure the fan operates when the compressor is running.. Also check for possible frost on the back wall of the freezer which would indicate a defrost problem. if there is frost there the problem is ether a bad timer, heater, or defrost thermostat.

Frige not cooling

if it a frost free check to see if there is ice build up inside the freezer if ther is you may have a defrosting problem or a gas leak,if its a cyclic defrost you may have the start of a gas leak, hope this helps.
