Question about Insignia 2.0 Notebook Speakers (2-Piece)

Problems with converting from earjack to main play

Not sure if these Insignia speakers are model number on them. Can't find the owners manual. But they came with the floor sub woofer. Have had them about 3 months now and have really enjoyed the sound. Recently we started using the earphone jack to play music through, but after initializing the use of the earphones, am no longer able to convert to mainplay music through the speakers. Its as if all is muted or the sound is turned off somewhere. Is there something internally wrong with the jack? And what do we do to correct?

Best Buy replaced them with a lower watage model, mine were the NS-3099 model 40 watage, that Best Buy was out of so they traded mine for the NS-3006 model 14 watage. Believe it or not the 3006 was $10 more and sounded like **** on my system. I further read the specs to realize the difference. I drove back up to Best Buy and replaced with a Logitech system of 50 watage for $20 more. Although these do sound better than the 3006, they are in my opinion not as clear as my $30 Insignia 3099 model. None of this makes sense to me. All I can deduct is that Best Buy wanted folks to buy their system at a cheaper price to get a taste of what they can do, and then screw you into buying something else when they falter. And I had limited choice on the shelf. There you go. Thanks for your reply just the same. Terry

My insignia speakers want work with my hp computer i need software to download them

speakers do not need any kind of software to work, it's a problem with your computer.

You should try to update your sound drivers, and plug the speakers into the right sockets (green). make sure to set your sound card to the main sound output device.

No sound from speakers

insert the ear/head phone in backpanel sound pin (Green color),

1.if You can hear the sound in ear/Head phone, then the problem is in the speaker.replace the speakers

2.if You can't hear the sound in ear/Head phone, then the problem is in your system audio driver. So Down load the audio driver which is suitable for your system and install it.

Speakers only produce sound when computer is first on.... like the first hour or two. If computer is left on and I need to hear something I have to restart.

Chances are that this is a computer problem but first you need to eliminate the speakers. Disconnect the speakers from the computer and plug them into you iPod. Start it playing and leave it - check that 2 hours later there is music coming from them or longer if you like. If there is still music then the speakers are fine and the problem is the computer.
You will need help on site to sort that.

Just bought new Insignia speakers, worked fine at first. Then they wouldn't play some audio from but would play others. So I unplugged the speakers and now I can't listen to anything on

Click start>right click my computer>properties
Then at the top click the tab "hardware"
click "device manager" in this window and post back to let us know if there are any yellow markings beside anything.

most likely a short in the wiring. Either on the speaker, or a short in the plugin jack.

I have a dell pc and I am not getting sound form the insignia 2.0 speakers.

You did make sure that the speakers are plugged into the green audio connections, in the back of your computer, right? If so, try this, go to your control panel and double click Sounds and Audio Devices. Under speaker settings, go to Advanced and check to see if its set for desktop speakers. Also, in control panel, go to Sound Effects Manager and do a speaker test and see if they work. Hopefully this will help.
