Question about Vantec 6-Port Sata Ii 150 Pci Host Card W/Raid Retail Silicon Image Sil3114 Sata Chip (fppgz) Storage Controller

2 Answers

I have a new vantec 6-port sata II 150 controller and Windows 7 Premium home. It works well. However, when I install Windows Live photo software, on reboot, I get an message that a program is running that is incompatible with the current color scheme (Never changed it), and the sata raid5 software no longer detects the controller. Uninstall live, and controller is back. Any thoughts?

In the olden days (2006 & earlier), your system's symptoms would have been a definite
I/O conflict, where one driver (under Windows Live photo software) tries to use the same set of
I/O addresses as another driver (the RAID controller). The drivers communicate with their
hardware controllers via a small group of fixed addresses.
To verify that this is happening under Win7, you can check the device driver resources for both pieces of software - but only when both are installed. If there's an overlap, you've discovered an I/O
conflict.
Under WinXP, checking the device driver's resources is done:
START> control panel > system properties (icon) > Hardware (tab) > Device Manager (button) >
select your device (via L-click) > R-click the device > Properties > Resources (tab)
---- then check the Resource settings list and the Conflicting Devices list. If the
conflicting devices list is non-null, there's a conflicting device driver.
How to do this under Windows7 - I hope its similar to the WinXP directions provided above.

Maybe you can go to microsofts website and find a patch that fixes it.

I'm running windows 7 32bit and want to install a SATA port expander but there are no instructions on doing it without makeing the a RAID aray.

You should have posted the model of what you want this on, usually the reason is to add RAID so its faster.

You could use USB 3.0 ports for your drives and get the same speed you will get from Sata 2 using HDD.

Try just plugging it in, run windows update, then go to ADMIN tools, computer MGNT, storage, disk MGT, see if you can see the added storage, then just Look for the unpartitioned HDD usually represented by a black header
right click it and select format.
on the following instructions

make sure you ram modules are securely seated if you are getting the blue screen of death you might not have enough ram installed (being recognised by your computer) to cope with the ammount of programs installed on your hard drive also
test the leads from motherboard to hard drive make sure they are securely seated
want to know what the problem is
restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer

you could select the option start at last known configuration that worked this will tell you if and what file has been corrupted or missing then you will know if its a hardware issue then select restart if the problem still persists f8 back into safe mode you might need to select your operating system to load into safe mode

click start control panel administration tools computer management in the left panel events + to expand then system you will see all errors in right panel right click select properties this will tell you what has occurred and the time it occurred

you might use the system restore to restore your system to an earlier time click start all programs accessories system tools you should see your system restore option if it is a hardware issue the system restore might not work
if you need more help with this or if I have misunderstood the problem post a reply
hope this helps you

I cannot get to registration page for Microsoft Picture IT Photo Premium 7.0

Microsoft Picture It! is not compatible with Windows 7.

Microsoft's Picture It! has been discontinued and has been replaced with Windows Live Photo Gallery. You may download Windows Live Photo Gallery for free and install it on Windows 7, however it only has basic editing features.

Hello....first question, is the Vantec IDE to SATA compatible with windows 7 64-bit? Thank you Ted

Win 7 should recognize the drives. However, whether your current hardware will recognize the drives is another question.

I've seen posts where it works in some situations, and not others. Amazon has 10 reviews with ratings running the gamut. Seems to be a "Hit or miss" proposition.

there are no drivers required for a hard drive.
Windows 7 should automatically detect the new hard drive and it should show up in disk management to format or prompt you to format.
Check your cable connections again.
Otherwise your new hard drive may be DOA. Return it to the store that you purchased from.

Hello
I am also using win 7 home premium. With microsoft security essentials.

There could be a few reasons why its not working for you.

1 If you have another anti virus program it must be completely un installed.
2 You downloaded win 7 32 bit, and not win 7 64 bit version.
3 Download corrupt.un install essentials and re download and install.

Hope this helps.
Thank for using Fix ya
