I understand that you need to check the security key so as to connect the computer with the router's wireless network.

In order to get this key we need to login to the router's page using any computer which is physically connected to router. Please follow the steps on a computer connected to the router so as to check the network key:

1. Open a web browser like Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.

2. Access the router's GUI by typing 'http://192.168.1.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar.

3. When prompted for Username and Password, please enter 'admin' for the Username and 'password' for Password.

4. Click on Wireless Settings (under Setup) from the left menu.

5. Check if WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) or WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key) is selected under 'Security Options'.

6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase (or network key).

7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the key that has been checked.

This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the router's wireless network.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Regards

Anand

What is laptop

A laptop (also known as a notebook)is a personal computer designed for mobile use. A laptop integrates most of the typical components of a desktop computer, including a display, a keyboard, a pointing device (a touchpad, also known as a trackpad, and/or a pointing stick) and speakers into a single unit. A laptop is powered by mains electricity via an AC adapter, and can be used away from an outlet using a rechargeable battery. A laptop battery in new condition typically stores enough energy to run the laptop for three to five hours, depending on the computer usage, configuration and power management settings. When the laptop is plugged into the mains, the battery charges, whether or not the computer is running, with the exception of some laptops.
Portable computers, originally monochrome CRT-based and developing into the modern laptop, were originally considered to be a small niche market, mostly for specialized field applications such as the military, accountants and sales representatives. As portable computers became smaller, lighter, and cheaper and as screens became larger and of better quality, laptops became very widely used for all purposes.

I'm a senior citizen. I will be traveling in my old motorhome. I want to have access to my computer with printer at all times. Do I simply buy a laptop with printer that has WIFI? Do I have to pay a...

If you want to have Internet access while you are travelling, then I suggest you get a laptop with a 3G USB wireless adapter (this uses the existing mobile phone network) with an Internet Service Provider that can give you the coverage in the areas you want to travel.
I suggest you get a printer that connects to the laptop using an USB cable.
I also suggest you get a power inverter to convert 12volts to mains voltage so you can use your laptop away from mains supply.
or
You can a 12volts power converter to the voltage requirements of your laptop instead of a power inverter.

Overheating

your going to have to crack open the case and clean the dust away from the heatsink. keep in mind that this WILL void any warranty that you may have. also keeping the laptop on a hard surface as opposed to your lap/carpet/pillow will allow more air into the vents for better ventilation. remember, heat is slowly killing your computer

Static noise coming out of speakers

What sort of computer do you have? Is it a laptop or desktop? Many laptops have this problem and it is quite widespread in laptops. The crackling or humming noise could be a result of interference from the mains power signal.

If it's a laptop, try running it on battery alone (take out the mains power cord). My laptop has this kind of noise in speakers when running on mains electrical supply, but it goes away like magic when I run it on battery.

A more long-term solution is to buy a 'Ground Loop Isolator' and insert it between your computer and the speakers/earphones. They are quite cheap and you could get it for under £10. It removes all static noise and you'll hear crystal clear sound.
