Hello Mohawk,

If it's just the small holes in the rotating spray arms that are blocked, they can be easily unblocked
with a pin or cocktail stick by simply poking through the holes. The calcium/limescale can be quite tough, so I often use the end of a very small precision screwdriver as it's easier to grip.

Please disconnect the power at the circuit breaker before servicing any appliance.

The lower spray arm can be unblocked without removing it from the dishwasher. Simply pull out the lower basket then hold the spray arm steady with one hand while you poke through the spray holes. Try to clear the holes fully or the limescale may build up again relatively quickly

To clean the upper spray arm, it's easiest to remove the upper basket completely. Pull the end caps off the guide rails, then pull the basket out of the washer and turn it upside down. Next, grab the arm near the center and pull it firmly to remove it from the basket. Finally, with the arm removed, poke through all the holes as you did with the lower arm and re-assembly in reverse order of the above. Don't forget to put the end caps back on the guide rails!

Hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to me with the model number of your dishwasher by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question.

Top shelf wont wash

Make sure the spray arm can be rotated by hand. Then check the spray holes in the arm to make sure they are not plugged. (Sometimes calcium or food particles can plug them). If plugged use a straightened paper clip to clean them. If this still doesn't fix the problem try putting a couple of cups of vinegar into the washer and run through a full cycle with no dishes. These suggestions should help and I hope they do.

Dishes do not get cleaned

Look at the spray arm to see if any of the holes are plugged with calcium build up. Check to see if the arm pivots freely and nothing is blocking it from turning. If all these things look okay, check the filter screen at the bottom of the dish washer to see if it is partially obstructed. You may have to disassemble the filter to see inside it. If all seems ok, then look at a work water pump impeller which will reduce the pressure going to the spray arm.

My new dishwasher leaves a white residue on my pots. pans and stainless flatware. I have not changed soap. Could the water not be hot enough?

Check the incoming water quality. If water is hard and having calcium content this could happen. Use water softeners in the inlet water to the machine.

If dish washer salt compartment available fill with the special salt meant for dish washers.

Check rinse aid compartment and fill rinse aid. Or use two in one soap tablet.

My Dishwasher leaves a white film on dishes.

check inlet water quality. If more calcium deposits in the water this could happen. Try using water water softeners.

If provision for dish washer salt check and add salt. ( not kitchen salt )

Finally check whether rinse aid compartment is filled with the liquid. If you are tablet, extra rinse aid not needed. Try all the above.

Cloudy looking dishes?

Check water quality. If more of calcium or hardness is present, this situation could occur. As per manufacturers directions fill salt meant for dish washers, in the dispenser provide in the door( Inside). This will improve the quality of the water.

Fill rinse aid liquid as per the directions. Refer user manual.

My Maytag Performa recently stopped washing the food off the dishes. It fills and drains like it is supposed to, but seems to not have the right pressure.

Before drawing any serious conclusions check wash arms for blockage in spray holes, < possibly slowing delivery of water pressure > it can be calcium from hard water.
