Ok if it is new and we'll assume its not a manufacturing malfunction: you may wanna try taking the hard drive out and then reconnecting it and putting it back in. The risk is warranty. If thats not the problem however youve already broken a seal trying to unscrew any screwdrivers, then they may not fix it for free for you. If you have nothing to lose, I say you try reseating the Hard Drive. Works most of the time especially after people may have dropped their laptop or move it around too much.

Good luck!

Sounds like the hard drive on your laptop has died.
you can see if the laptop is able to detect the hard dive by booting to the bios
and bringing up the bootable devices or hard drive list.
if there is no hard drive listed you will need to replace the hard drive.

That message means your hard drive has crashed! You'll need to remove the drive and hook it up to an enclosure to see if you can still access the files. Swap the old drive out with a new one, reinstall operating system and you're back in business.

Wont go past first screen

First try this unplug from AC, remove battery, plug in try to boot normally. If that fails Open BIOS, Boot Order or the BOOT MENU, Boot from HDD first, and save changes and reboot, if that fails try a system restore/recovery.

Help!! I have an Acer Aspire Laptop. It wont boot up!!

Hello, "Suzy Irwin".
You wrote that this is the error message:
"Check cable connection! PXE-MOF : Exiting Intel PXE ROM No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".
Is that correct?
IF so, 1st, Good Job!
Most people miss the mess., then we don't have the info we need.
OK, "PXE ROM" indicates that the POST can't find the hard drive.
"No bootable device" usually indicates the connection to the hard drive, or the drive itself, has failed.
When it says; "Check cable connection",
that's another indication of the same problem.
So, do you feel comfortable taking your "Acer Aspire" apart?
IF its in warranty, or if you don't think you can take it apart,
AND put it back together again,
then you will need to take it to a shop or store that does repairs,
or buy another computer.
But IF you feel up to it, check the company's website,
and google the instructions for disassembly/reassembly for your particular model.
Your description of the problem didn't include the model info, or any additional info to further ID your particular Aspire.
They are NOT all alike.
Hopefully helpful,
sl0j0n.

My gateway says "Check cable connection!PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key". What should I do?

Sounds like the hard drive isn't getting power, the data cable to the drive isn't connected,or the drive controller on the motherboard is toast(I'm a novice tinkerer, not an expert).

Pxe-m0f : Exiting intel pxe rom

First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

It says check cable connection! PXE-E63:Error while initializing the NIC PXE-MOF:Exiting Intel PXE ROM. No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

This could mean a few different things:

1.) Your hard drive is bad.
2.) Your hard drive cable is bad.
3.) The cable that connects to your hard drive is loose.

If you are under warranty, I would advise you to contact the MFG. to have them replace the drive or check it out for you.
