Its possible that the Motherboard connector for the fan is not putting out power. there are CPU fans that use a standard 4pin Molex connector, that is what I would suggest you use.

My hp pavilion g7 is overheating and shutting down

first check your ventilation port on the side or back of your laptop. These can become covered in dust and make your laptop very hot. After you've done that, if it's still overheating, try and find a free cpu fan diagnostic tool and make sure the fan is even running or if it's running at the proper speeds. If it's not running, check your drivers. Go to the hp website, then support and downlads and lookup your model laptop. It's on the bottom of your laptop. Download the cpu fan driver if available and reinstall it. If it's still not working after all of that, your fan is shot and will need to be replaced.

My hp pavilion dv9720us will run for about ten mins and then shut off

you can try to hover around the fan outlet the dust gathers and stops the cpu cooling down and then the cpu wiil shut down to protect the laptop from overheating if it runs longer but shuts down you will need to get in to the laptop and do the same around the heatsink fan and cpu

The fan in hp pavilion dv7-1245dx does not work

When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

PThe computer turn off after 10 minutes of use, and then indicated that a problem is with the hard disk. Indicated, insert the instalation cd, but i don't have it.

ok if the computer works for about 10 minutes then shuts down then i would say its not the hard drive but the cpu fan. when your cpu heats up it shuts down when it reaches a certain temperature to protect itself. open your case and check that the cpu fan is working if not check it is plugged in correctly by unplugging it then plugging it back in, somtimes the connections can become oxidised and loose contact. if your cpu fan is working then let me know and we will try something else. let me know how you go.

Got a screen message that fan is not working. Now when I turn on the computer it just beeps at me. What do I need to do to solve this problem?

Open cover and switch it on, check if fans turn (assume CPU fan), if not switch it off and remove from mains, replace faulty fan or clean the fan with a small brush and vacuum cleaner might be clogged with dust. If this fails check bios settings for CPU temperature and adjust accordingly, do not exceed recommended CPU temperature, or CPU will overheat and eventually be destroyed.

Computer shuts down and beeps due to over heating and bios shuts down machine as a precaution.

Pavilion DV 9005 issue

Please Reviewe all connections care fully. Its Very sensitive issue. If you do not find any open connection. Once again fit the fan with all connections. No display is nothing with Display do not touch that area. See only cooling Fan.
