Question about Toshiba 27A51 27" TV

1 Answer

TV took a long time to come on (about 50 minutes). TV kept clicking like it was trying to come on. When I attempted to turn it off, I could not turn it off.

    It is 27A51

Is the power supply in the TV itself?

  • farmington44 Mar 21, 2011

Thank you for all your help. This is kind of a mystery to me ... I have had no further trouble with the TV since the original occurrence, in fact it might even be going on a bit faster than before. I guess I wonder if this is "normal", is it just a matter of time before it dies? Is it worth it to get a 10-11 year old TV repaired?

  • farmington44 Mar 31, 2011

The TV is now at repair shop. It is not the capacitor - power supply is now the possible problem, it's $45 to be looked at.

Hi, the power supply was rebuilt. Hope this solves it. The picture is no long wavy & it comes on real quick, so all it well. It cost about $150 for diagnosis & repair.

Hi,
Please confirm tv model number as question shows it is Toshiba 27A51
Model number is very important info of tv to look into related schematics for possible cause of problem and to suggest a solution.
Symptom shows it is either bad capacitor, devalued resistor in power supply section or cold/ dry solder connections in deflection section of tv.
Thanks.

Please check capacitor C507(470UF/ 200V) in power supply section, it is big capacitor, replace it if found leaky or its top is puffed.
    Thanks.

Now I'm thinking about cold/ dry solder joints/ connections on main circuit board of tv. Its good to know that tv is working without problem and if picture is still good then should be repaired under $50 ~ 60
    Hope this will help.
    Thanks, have nice day.

Tv went black no sound either. TV only five years old,is there anything i can do? Thanks James

Cannot offer solution but my mine has also gone bad.  At first a black shadow appeared on the left side of the screen.  Took it to the authorized service center.  they kept it a few days, said nothing could be done.  Used it anyway for the next 5 years when suddenly it went black (or sometimes blue) after working perfectly for the first 5 minutes. A sharp rap next to the right speaker fixed it a few times, but no more.  Good luck.

My TV can't turn on and getting clicking sounds...help please!!!

I have a Samsung Plasma PN50A450 and one night the TV turned off and the result of trying to turn it back on was simply the set trying to turn on, making a click sound and nothing happened. I pulled the back off, and attempted the capacitor fix that is well documented on the Samsung LCD TVs. I did have a swelled capacitor that I replaced and also replaced the other capacitors that were the same Microfarad rating, temp and voltage which were replaced in a popular UTube video. That did not solve my problem, so I went onto Ebay and bought an entirely new power board for 69.00 plus 14.99 shipping. Replacing the board took about 3 minutes. TV is now working fine and will go back up on the wall in a day or 2. Note, the power board in my TV was a BN44-00205A. That board is no longer in stock anywhere ( I believe because it has been determined to be a bad board) I replaced it with BN44-00207A. Which I suspect is the board that is being used for replacements of the bad BN44-00205A. It fixed My TV. Hope this helps you. BTW, Both power boards are listed for replacing a board in the PN50A450, but the BN44-00207A Specifically states its for a PN50A450P1D. I took a gamble that the BN4400207A would work. It did.
