Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have tried replacing my honeywell twice in the past year. My problem is that I have to push and try and move my thermostat around for the ac to kick on. Once I can get the ac on, it turns off again and I have to go back to the thermostat and move it around on the wall unitl the unit comes on. I have to open a window to make sure the outside until kicks on, as this is the only way I can cool the house. Is this a wire problem in the wall?

Hello, sounds like the problem Is a wiring issue, there might be a loose wire in the wall causing this problem with your thermostat, however usually the wires don't get loose in the wall unless they were spliced. Also, make sure the connections on the thermostat sub base are tight to each terminal and that the thermostat is mounted securely to the wall.

Honeywell ac thermostat not working

The replacement batteries may be no good or may have been installed with the wrong polarity. Also, if your Honeywell thermostat latches into a wall mount, you may have reinstalled it incorrectly. I speak from experience

Thermostat will not let us program the cooling past 72 we have tried to move the temporary setting also useing the hold temp button and pushing the decrease key, it seem to be locked at 72

you need to get into the installer settings to lower the minimum setpoint. look up your model online and try that. Otherwise you may have an older style auto changeover type t sat in which case you should still look up the manual and reprogram from the installer configs. or try buying a new one

The Chrono Therm 3 and 4's were some of the worst products that honeywell has EVER put out. I would suggest switching to the Vision Pro 8000, please consult your local HVAC company for more information regarding the change over.

Battery backup?

which model do you have ? the 8000/8001 or 8011 the set is different depending on your type of heating system. This model has a memory chip not a battery that saves your settings. So you could be looking at replacing the unit.
