Lift up and remove notebook display panel.
Remove hard drive cover, memory cover and modem cover from the bottom of the notebook. Each cover is secured by one screw.
Here’s how you can remove the hard drive. Remove four screws securing the hard drive caddy to the base assembly. Slide the hard drive down to disconnect it from the motherboard. Lift up and remove the hard drive.
Removing memory modules (if needed). Carefully spread latches on both sides of the memory slot. The memory module will pop up at 30 degree angle. Pull the memory module from the slot by the edges.
Removing modem card (if needed). Remove two screws securing the modem card. Lift up the modem card to disconnect it from the motherboard and unplug cable from the side.
Hope this Helps

Well this really isn't much of a problem, as the fan turning on shows that it is doing its job. It turns on due to processor having to run faster, naturally raising its temperature, so the fan keeps the processors temperature within operable limits.

Very easily! With the unit on it's stand, tip the screen forward as far as it goes (About 15deg past vertical). This uncovers 2 Philips cross-head screws, one on each end of the black box that hangs off the back of the screen and contains the memory, processor, fan etc. Now the top of the black box can be lifted off. Inside is an aluminum box with the lid taped (!) on. Remove lid, and inside are 2 memory slots. One will have a 500mb mem card in it. The other is empty. Fit you new 500mb in the empty slot for 1gb total (the max). Don't forget to use some form of anti static protection and of course unplug it from mains electricity before you start!
