Open Question

I hooked up metra Ibr-whcr2 wiring adapter to a Sony car stereo in my 2005 dodge ram. I have power but no sound. All wires seem to be hooked up correctly and I have checked all fuses. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: I have a 92 Seville, and the front speakers don't

Have the front speakers been replaced? UV will literally cook them. They are a paper cone from the factory, and have more than likely dry rotted and dissentigrated. They are either a 4 x 6 or a 3.5" And if your lucky, can come out from the top. If the dash is separate from the grill, they will pop out the top or have 2 T10 or phillips screws. Hope this helps

IBR-WHCR2 wire harness extra yellow wire

The wire to which you refer applies power to the radio with the ignition switch in the ACC position and also maintains power flow to the memory when the radio is off. The proper connection should be apparaent from the installation instructions that came with your Metra adapter.

What wiring method are you using, did you buy the adapter harness, or cut all wires and joining one at a time, or other method? Do you have info regarding what each wire from car harness and stereo are for?

Faceplate has not illumination

I'm not sure what you mean by extra red wire. Are you saying that there are two red wires? Generally most radios these days require two power sources. The yellow wire for most after market goes to a constant power source and the red wire goes to ignition or switched power source. Both wires need to be hot in order for the radio to work.

Don't know the model. Be aware that Ford is whimsical when it comes to color codes and even varies from model to model. Whichever pair the adapter uses for the left door speaker, connect the + wire to the ORG/LT GRN wire and the - wire to the LT BLU/WHT wire. For the right door speaker, connect the + wire to the WHT/LT GRN wire and the - wire to the DK GRN/ORG wire. For the left rear speaker, connect the + wire to the PINK/LT GRN wire and the - wire to the PNK/LT BLU or TA/YEL wire (same wire). For the right rear speaker, connect the + wire to the PINK/LT BLU wire and the - wire to the DK GRN/ORG or BRN/PNK wire (same wire). REMEMBER, the colors of the Metra adapter may not match what's in your car

Hello... sorry to hear you are having a problem. The theftlock system does not pertain to anything aftermarket that you do. The theftlock only locks down the factory radio if it is removed, and only if it was activated before it was removed. There was a red led light on the radio. With the vehicle turned off, if the light on the radio flashed, then it was activated. If you hook the factory radio back up then you will have to enter the code to unlock it. Since you used a wire harness adapter, check the red wire and make sure you have 12v current on that line. You didnt state if the radio powers up with no sound or if it doesnt power up at all. If it powers up with no sound, then check to make sure that the blue/white wire is hooked to the blue wire on the adapter harness. Let me know if you are having no sound or no power and I can help you further with this problem.

The best way to install an aftermarket stereo is to go to a stereo installation store and get the in dash "metra" kit and the wiring harness adapter that allows you to connect the aftermarket stereo wiring to the factory wiring on the truck...the "metra" kit adapts the aftermarket radio to fit into the space for your particualar vehicle..the tech at the stereo store will know what all this means if they know what they are doing...To clarify, "metra" is a brand name for these kits andthey also go by the name scoshe...
