You must either have broadband internet access and a wireless router or you can connect your Nintendo DS at a hotspot, such as a library or coffee shop that offers internet access. Make sure you are in a location mentioned above before going to step 2.Turn on your Nintendo DS and click on the wrench icon. This will take you to the system settings.Go to page 3 and select "Internet".Click "Connection Settings".Click "None" to the right of "Connection 1".Click "Search for an Access Point".Look for an access point that has a gold lock that is unlocked. Select that access point and your Nintendo DS should now be connected. If its locked then do the same thing but click on it and enter the code.

If you try to get wifi and it says"the access point's security settings are not supported by the nintendo ds" what do you do

The only solution to this problem would be to change the type of security used on the wireless network in question. You would have to log in to the router or wireless access point with a computer and locate the wireless security settings, then change the encryption type used on the network.

The access point's security settings are not supported by the nintendo DS

This means you've got a WPA/2 security connection on your router/access point, whereas the Nintendo DS only supports WEP or open encryption.
    You can:
    1) change your security from WPA to WEP on your router
    2) Purchase a used nintendo wifi stick
    3) Set up a second router or access point with WEP security specifically for your DS

Ok so i was trying to get an access point on my pokemon black version and i have wifi at my house but when i searched for an accss point it popped up wit a remark that said "The access point's...

The Nintendo DS can only connect to 802.11b networks with WEP encryption (see here). Make sure your access point is 802.11b with WEP encryption in order for your Nintendo DS to be able to connect to it. Than you can try connecting it again.
    Good luck.

Hello, how do i get facebook on my nintendo dsi xl? ???

Connect to a wireless network that the Nintendo can detect nearby. If it is your home network, determine what the SSID is, identify it on your list of access points, and then enter the access number to communicate with that network. Once you've establish communication with a network you can connect to the Internet and log in to Facebook.

    Web setup

With a Wi-Fi compatible game inserted into your Nintendo DS, access the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings screen. Your game manual provides information on how to do this for the game you are playing.
    1. Tap Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings
    2. Tap one of the Connection slots
    3. Tap "Search For An Access Point"

The Nintendo DS will then display the name of your wireless access point.
If your Access Point has a blue, unlocked icon, tap the Access Point name, and then 'OK.' The Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a red, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has detected WEP key security on your router. Tap the Access Point name on the Nintendo DS and then enter the WEP key for your router on the following screen and tap 'OK' to save the settings.

Tap 'OK' again and the Nintendo DS will then establish a connection with your router. Back out to the main screen of your game and your ready to play online.

If your Access Point has a gray, locked icon, the Nintendo DS has determined your router's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. In order to connect to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, you will need to either switch to WEP security, or remove the security setting of your router when connecting with the Nintendo DS.

    My WiFi problem

Please confirm the manufacturer and model for the router being used? The router in the heading of this message does not appear to have wireless capablity.

Secondly in terms of your sisters machine assuming it has an ethernet port have you tested it using the cable just to make sure there are no (software) firewall issues on her computer affecting access to access the internet.

Sorry I have no Nintendo DS knowledge specifically. I may try to research the issue after the router and laptop issues are resolved.

Are there any other wireless devices (computers) currently working correctly with your wireless router/access point?
