SOURCE: my general electirc washer model

I had a similar problem ... mine was related to a hole in the pressure switch hose (code E22). Inside the washer, there is a pressure switch that senses how full the tub is. It does so using air pressure at the bottom of the tub -- air hose gets "pushed on" by the filling water and causes a pressure spike the switch. If you develop a leak in the air hose, the pressure switch never gets exhausted. There is a safety feature that engages if the water runs for more that 8 minutes without the pressure switch engaging. E22 is one of the codes related to this event. Easy way to see if this is an issue is to run a diagnostic test.

Check out this posting for how to do so: http://www.fixya.com/support/t9576766-found_small_part

Test T02 will show you the most recently encountered codes. At the bottom of that posting is a link to the code definitions with problem resolutions: http://www.fixya.com/support/t9556917-ge_model_wcvh6800j_error_code_04

SOURCE: water does not go into washer

First you have to find the error code.
So! To recall an error code,

Wake the machine by pressing any button

Wait 5 seconds
Press and hold the Start and Pause Cancel buttons simultaneously

Ail LEDs will go blank and after a few seconds the control will signal the stored code using audible beeps and blinking LEDs. The control will repeatedly signal the code, as long as the Start and Pause Cancel buttons are pressed.
A two-second pause between repeats affords you the ability to make accurate counts to identify the correct error codes.

As long as the buttons are held, the failure code will appear in the display as an Efollowed by two numbers, a number and a letter or two letters, please post back with the error code for further assistance.

My washer wont aloud my water to go insidethe washer

If the washer makes a humming sound, but no water goes in, and there is no other action, the water shut-off valve is off (outside the washer), or the pipes are frozen.

For top-load washers: If the washer starts agitating immediately without filling the tub, the water level switch is bad (falsely senses the tub is full already) or the water level sensing hose plugged up while there was water in the machine, and it has still has pressure inside it to fool the level switch.

Sometimes when I turn the washer on; it continues to run the water without filling the bowl. Seems like the washer thinks its in rinse mode.

Check your drain the drain hose must be higher that the tub or it will run down the drain.
It must be going down the drain or you would have water all over the floor If the water is coming in it has to go somwhere. In rinse cycle it should stay in the tub until the timer kicks it into drain and spin.

Water leaks from the machine tub while it is in the wash cycle or turned off with water in the tub. I can empty the tub using the spin cycle without any leaking

you have bad tub seals. is there stains on the walls inside the washer and the water is leaking in the middle bottom of the tub?if the washer is old get a new washer, did one last week but the washer was in good condition it was close to 300 bucks.you have to pull the agitator, remove the top ring, with a spanning tool you need to remove the center parts and pull the inner and outer tubs and the three nuts and bolts holding the outside tub on and replace the two pieces in the middle it's a bearing and a seal kit,but you need the tools to do it,like i said if the washer is old replace it or call someone in to do the job for you

No water coming out

Clean out or replace the tube running from the water level switch in the backsplash to the washer tub. It tends to plug up with gunk right where it attaches to the outer tub. When it gets plugged, the washer can not tell if the tub is empty or full.

Water leaks out from underneth

We have a WDSR2080D GE washer and had the same exact problem. We replaced the water pressure switch ($30) to see if that was the cause. A malfunction in this switch would cause the leaking from the bottom because there would be no way for the washer to "know" that the tub was filled to the appropriate level--causing the tub to overflow. Then we found out that the water pressure switch was not the cause and found that the water pump switch was the problem. A malfunction with this switch would cause water to continue to fill the tub without stopping--which would cause an overflow. Think of it as turning on a faucet without the ability to turn it off. Happily, we are now with a working and non-flooding washer at only a minimal expense. Note that the schematics for your washer are not in the manual. They are inside the control panel, which means you have to take the front of the washer off as well as the control panel in order to see what's really going on. My guess is that GE would rather consumers not try to fix their own appliances so they put instructions and helpful hints INSIDE the appliance.
